wow. guy just missed the 8-ball by a foot.
has been race to 11 since switch to single elim started.
Well, the Toshiyuki d. Afrinneza match was pretty bad.
But one interesting thing happened. Afrinneza won the 8th game to take the score to 5-3. But the TD (or head ref or someone with the authority) spoke to the players and added one game to each of their scores, making it 6-4 instead of 5-3. I must assume this was a slow-play penalty, assessed on each player, as they had been playing for nearly an hour and a quarter for the 8 games (averaging over 9 minutes per game).
Has anyone ever seen this sort of penalty applied before?

Never heard of that rule but I suppose it is fine since both penalised
In recent WCOP, Irsal and his partner was leading I think Romania
Then he somehow placed chalk as marker for his partner to shoot but never removed the fusion when his partner made his shot

Yes, races to 11 now for the men. I don't think the live scoring has been completely up to date with each game in each match.
Yeah I have seen 10's on there. the scoreboard doesn't usually update game by game. Some rounds 4 or 5 games go by before updates, reminds me of the steinway/gotham scoreboard they just had recently. the chart also says race to 11 & if you look at bottom chart there are 2 w - 10's on there. the Yapp & Alcano matches are the two.

Here is the updated bracket, down to 8 for tonight.unless a change is made the times are 8pm est for last 8, 11pm est for semi's & 2am est for the finals.
At last they are forced to show a good match at each of those times with only 1 Japanese player remaining.

The Last 8 must be one of most lopsided in recent years- comprising mostly lesser knowns. Plenty of upsets and giant killers
Only 3 (Shane, Buste, Alcano) are known outside Asia. Rest are mostly long time journeymen who have been lurking around, not won any Major event, just like sidekicks and extras to the big guns. But there is no doubt they can play and any of them can win whole thing. I actually would like of these "underdogs" to win it. The youngest and most promising is the brilliant exciting Johann Chua, Johann has finished deep in last few Asian events so this may be his year
Shane is the favorite now. He blew away Alex in last 32 . He caught a big lead on Lining in last 16 but Lining found a late gear to close to 6-9 before Shane sped away. Shane must have feeling he is playing in Philippines cos he keeps bumping into Pinoys all tourney. His next match is against big Pinoy kahuna, Django.
He can get past all the others but can gets past Django? :grin:,
Even if he gets past Django, he may have Johann jump him in semis or his MP Cup "call 10 ball" nemesis, Alcano pop up next to him in final. Next week in Kings Cup he has rematch v Django. Then he has that long "date" with Dennis sometime next year but that is another story. What is the deal with Shane and the Pinoys anyway? :grin:
Based on their last few matches, Shane, Buste, Johann Chua, Kuo have been most impressive taking down their opponents quite easily. They may have mastered the break today but the conditions on TV table on last day is different

Ok I know there are pep's out there that can tell me what is the time differential ( between Japan & here ) so I can Watch SVB's matches today.

There are 3 rounds of play left. For CST, they will be played at 7pm tonight (Saturday), 10pm tonight, and 1am tomorrow morning.
Unfortunately, it looks like SVB's 7pm (for you) match tonight will not be the one being streamed. And if he loses to Busty, he won't be on either of the later two matches, either. If he makes it to the semifinals, we might see him. If he makes it to the finals, we will see him (absent streaming problems, that is).
I liken Fargorate to imdb.com movie ratings
Before I watch a movie, I would check its ratings on imdb.com If it is less than 7 , I would usually give the movie a miss
In same way, I look for new unknown players with Fargorate 750 and above.
And I see there are so many Japanese in the list with 750 and above that I have never heard of. And that is one of best things about Fargorate - unveils unknown players and gives idea of their speed

Easiest way to manually calculate is to use 12 hours AM/PM clock instead of 24 hrs
CST is 15 hours behind Tokyo time . That is 12 hrs+3 hrs
So just deduct 3 hrs from Japan time and switch the AM/PM
So 10am Japan time=10-3 =7am and the switch from am to pm so it becomes 7pm
1pm Japan time lless 3 hrs =10am and then switch am to pm so 10pm
4pm Japan time less 3 hrs =1pm and then switch pm to am=1am
