5/8-11 SS Joints Question

I've only done a handful of SS joints. I have Hightower's 5/8-11 tennon threader and it has always worked fine. I got a request, so I ordered some SS joints, I think from Atlas but I'm not positive. Well these joints are barely catching my threads. They seem different from the others I've ordered. It's like the sharp part of the thread has been bored flat, so they aren't grabbing. I hope I explained this okay.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Does anyone have one that the threads are still fairly sharp inside that I could buy?

Yes, you have to make the tenon larger, I like the joints from Ct. Cue parts better myself.

Ss

The tennon comes all the way to the end of the joint. It's that the threads inside the ss joint are ground really flat. They just aren't "V" shaped enought to dig in. The joint threads just barely go in the tennon threads because of the flattness. Kind of frustrating. I wanted to finish this one off this weekend:mad:

I'll order a couple from that other place and hope for the best.

Yeah, but I only have a deluxe cuesmith, so probably not. I've never had a problem with the tennon threader. It always worked fine. It's just like these ss joints all the threads inside are all ground off too flat to catch my tennon threads.

Ct. Cue parts are great to deal with, I tried those others and thru them in the trash.

I did order a bunch from them a little while ago. We'll see what happens. I appreciate the lead.

Thanks for the heads up on the others. They came in today. I could barely get these new ones on by hand. Fit my threads really tight. The others I could wiggle and pull off. I appreciate it!

My pleasure, I also like the 5/8X18 thread, Cueman's tenon threader is one of the best I have used by hand.

I got mine from him also and it works great. I got a tennon threader for ferrules from somewhere else and don't like it nearly as well. Shoulda got one from him.
