5280 and FURY

Hello everyone! Im new to the forums and but no stranger to the game. I was just wondering if anyone can tell me anything about 5280 and FURY cues. I was interested in maybe buying one of these cues but no one in south florida carries them and when I ask they always have to say something about these cues being made in China. I really dont care where its made as long as it is a good cue.

Well anyways does anyone have any input on these cues. I really like the way that they look but that really is not my concern. I just want a good solid cue that plays well for under 200. I know that it is not much but as a college student that is a lot of money. The one thing that I noticed about the 5280 cues especially the MH02 is that it has a wood to wood joint . Everywhere I go online to look at the cues none of them have the shaft on them. Is this cue going to look like a sneaky pete or is there a joint colar?

Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks

You may want to look at Lucasi as well. They are excellent cues and you can pick one up at a good price. Hopefully someone carries them in your area so that you can test hit with them.

FURY is EXCELLENT! Bob played with several of them at the BCA tournament in Vegas last May. He was VERY impressed with them. If you are going to Vegas this coming week, they will be at the APA show so you can try them all out. Otherwise, they will be at the Midwest Open in the Chicago area this October. We would buy FURY!

everytime I ask about those cues, someone always mentions Lucasi. From what i hear Lucasi, FURY and 5280 are all made at the same factory but for different wholesalers.

How come nobady has any info on 5280 cues:confused: ? This is a bit troubling because this seems to be the only cue company that I ever ask about that nobody seems to have anything to say about except for "they dont know anything". Is this cue company even worth asking about. I know that it is endorsed by Cory Deuel but even the best players would endorse shit (excuse the language!) if they were paid enough!

Jose Parica shoots and jumps with Fury cues and just beat Efren Reyes in Hollywood, CA last Sunday.

Max Eberle shoots with a Fury too but with a Predator shaft.
Fury cues are typical of imported cues nowadays.
Full of decals and cheap. I'm almost certain Parica gets the better shafts out of their factory though.
I'd rather shoot with a well-built sneaky pete than these decaled imports. I know they are not that well built as I see a ton of them at the repair shop.

what exactly have you seen that is the majority of the problems with the FURY cues? What exactly makes them cheap?
Sometimes i dont think that it is right to blame the manufacturers for the problems with the products because sometimes even the best made and expensive products can be faulty in the hands of a moron! And whats the big deal about decals, real inlays dont make you play better anyway!!!!

A guy who plays regularly in a montly tournament just bought a Fury off of eBay, and it was supposed to be brand new. He has been using it for about a month. One day last weekend, he decided to break with the Fury cue stick (not a break cue), and the whole butt shattered like a baseball bat, like a tree branch. It could be this was a defective cue or a cheap imposter he got off of eBay.

The good thing about the Fury cue sticks is that they are affordablel and don't cost an arm and a leg, many styles to choose from.

Max Eberle and Jose Parica are members of the Team Fury, and Jose is sponsored by a distributor of Fury cues.

I would contact FURY and ask them why this happened. I am sure that they would be interested in seeing what happened to the stick IF it is their product AND if it is NOT their product, they might want to see it anyway.

I have played with and sell 5280cues! IMO they have a firm hit, are solidly built, look great and are very affordable. They are very comparable to Lucasi cues, better (again, IMO) than Players and Action though. I've never played with or seen a FURY cue, so I wont comment about them. The guy that bought the 5280 cue, model CD02 with an extra shaft simply loves it and plays with it often. The CD02 looks really sharp, clean inlays and general craftsmanship.
Check out www.zimsrack.com and let me know if I can help with anything!

Fury cues aren't too bad. They have the low cost versions with decals, and higher end ( as high as 500 retail, but you could get them much cheaper on Ebay or through other websites ) with real inlays (no ivory). I saw Max Eberle when he was at Champion Billiards, maybe a month ago, and his Fury was a good looking cue. Of course it had a nice stacked leather wrap, and has the Predator shaft.

Personally I would play with just about anything as long as it has a Predator shaft. I know a guy who plays a lot of one pocket, and he buys these cheap 25 dollar butts (I'm not sure who makes them-probably Action), but has a Predator shaft fitted for them. He has a temper, and he loves banging his cues around, and will eventually snap the butt in half every couple of months or so, but of course the Predator shaft stays fine. I've seen him break a butt in half, hitting it against a bar stool while he was in the middle of a game. He then threw the butt away, and pulled another cheapo butt out of his case, that was identical to the other one, screwed the Predator shaft on and kept on playing. It's quite comical, but if you ever feel like breaking your cue and can't control yourself, that might be the way to go. I know I'm off subject, but I just thought it was funny. :D

Like DDKoop said, take a look at the Lucasi line. The L2007 I bought, just because I liked the way it looked, hits very well. I was pleasantly surprised. And, the L2007 has no decals or labels on it. Its all wood inlays. Looks good too, 6 ebony points, SEE?

That cue looks nice. Ive heard nice things about Lucasi, but from what I hear they are made by the same people who make FURY and 5280. Even though the inlays dont really make the cue any better I can see the point in paying money for decals

I can only speak for Lucasi because of the 3 it is the only one I have shot with. I picked up a brand new one for my buddy on Ebay for $130. Real nice playing cue with a firm hit.
Hemicudas, that is a real nice looking cue and for the money you really can't go wrong.

Thanks DD. That's the reason I bought it, for the looks. The fine hitting ability was unexpected but appreciated. I only paid $250 for the L2007 "With 2 shafts." I played with a 1973 Bill Stroud JW until I sold it about 6 months ago and just wanted a nice looking cue because I hardly ever play any more. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised.

I hear you. Right now I am playing with a high end Jacoby that I am trying to sell for the same reason. If you know anyone in the market let me know.

not for nothing but the Lucasi cues are great. I know you have heard that to much already but its true. I have one of their cues that i bought off a friend for $250 with a extra shaft brand new. the cue was used for maybe 3 months. A picture of my cue I love the way this cue plays and alot of the shops around here would recommend that cue if your not looking to go custom or to high in value. For the money you cant go wrong.

Gee. i don't know, but i'm going to go out on a limb here, how about buying a cue that is made... let's say... in the usa??? i know that idea is WAYYYYYY out there, just a wild stab in the dark, but i thought i might just say what was on my mind while reading this post...

Thanks

Jon

P.S. Pechauer and McDermott... two of the best made in this country, at their price level...

Good point Jon. I also owned a Helmstetter that hit a ton. Didn't know Pechauer made cues in that price range.

my back up cue is a helmstetter, it hits great......... I like american made myself, why support someone else?
