The Billiard Congress of America (BCA) has released their final points list for 2022, and while it is a familiar and expected name on top of the list, it’s a new group of American names making their presence known on the list. Russia’s Fedor Gorst sits at the top of the list, after wins in Arizona and Ohio, with Spain’s Francisco Sanchez-Ruiz riding his wins at Derby and the US Open to second place on the list. Poland’s Wiktor Zielinski finished in 3rd place, while Mika Immonen and Jayson Shaw fill out the top five places on the list. As for the American players, it is Tyler Styer leading the pack in 19th place overall, with Hunter Lombardo, Kang Lee, Joven Bustamante and Shane Wolford fill out the top five American players.

I'm curious about the significance of a BCA points list. I thought most folks today go by Matchroom's world rankings. How do these two differ as far as helping a pro player in their pool-playing career?

The BCA points list is still used to determine North American invitations to World Championships and other events. The BCA list was used as far as US invites to the World Games, earlier this year.
