I'm unfamiliar with that term "discord." Please provide some more color. Chats are fun, but sometimes they can get unruly, for lack of a better term. I am reminded of the Window's Open podcast with WPA president Ishaun Singh. He got pounded, and it wasn't pretty. A lot of the recent WPA happenings are not 100 percent his family, but yet he is the poster child of WPA today. The ugliness coming from some of the chat posters was hard to read.
Text/Audio/Video chat on demand for fans of pool/AZB. There are several rooms for any pool interest. It's hard to explain but it's kind of a video game thing. Lots of younger folks participate. But instead of a video game it's real life pool and azb topics. We could be the announcer for an Accu-Stats world premier. what a fun night or two a week with no entry fee.Chats are fun, but sometimes they can get unruly
If you can set up an Official AZB™ Discord™ I would humbly be requested to be in the mods list. I'd not shy away from a second or 5th in command but let me know boss. We all like talking pool at all hours of the day and night. I can ban a fella spamming adds to her premium snap but I don't want too much responsibility other than that.It would help speed up testing non patented open source technology.
It would just be a file locker for me.
Discord is probably at the razors edge of happenings. For pool it would be a fresh of breath air if you know what I mean.I'm unfamiliar with that term "discord." Please provide some more color. Good point, but I think it's the future. As long as the happenings are controlled by the site owner and admins I think the future trajectory would be great for the future of the site. Hell, we could even vote on an AZB plushie to give our grandkid as a donation to the site.Ive seen it happening to another forum. The Discord itself has it's positives and negatives. The big negative for the forum was a steady decline in activity as most was discussed in Discord. So I'd advise against it.

Does AZB have a patreon? I'd donate $5 a month there, they already got my cc.
Yeah I was hoping for an official one, not one to snipe away resources. I kind of doubt it would be a good fit really, running a forum/site like this is quite a bit or work, with discord you pretty much want to have mods on 24/7 and it's a real labor of love type thing. It's great for the users but there is a learning curve. There’s zero chance the owners of AZB want us spinning up a Discord room and trying to get users by promoting it here. You’d be using their resources to take users away from their property, and potentially hurting their bottom line.
That said, if AZB was behind this thing, and promoted it, I might drop in during big livestreams - but otherwise, I prefer the pace and format of this forum to live chat.
CRT television enthusiast groups
They're huge for retro gaming. If you still have your old systems it's the easiest way to have a lag free experience. It's kind of like old audio equipment in a way, they just hit different. Hooking up old systems to modern televisions is hit or miss, mainly miss. Modern consoles like the NES mini are full of lag and emulation errors. These old tvs with the old systems really are the only way to play something authentic like how it was when we were young. Heck, we still have combat/tank tournaments on the Atari around here!I have now, finally, heard everything.

What's insane is that they have become somewhat collectable for some sets (usually with good amount of hookup types). I used to pick up "upgrades" on the side of the road for nothing. Now if you want to get a nice 29" or so with component hookups you're often looking at $250+ on marketplace etc.
They have monitors that were specialty for studios and television networks and such that command high prices now, we're talking $1900 for a 19" in good shape and calibration. There are even more expensive ones that that!
Watching old 4:3 content on an actual old CRT has it's charms and if you grew up watching that format on VHS or just television shows back then it really adds something to the experience. Sanford and Son without bars at the sides or weird cropping like on the Simpsons episodes makes a difference.
There's also mods you can do to many sets to add additional inputs, allow RGB inputs etc. You have to have good soldering skills, the ability to read the schematics and a healthy respect for the deadly voltage that a flyback is capable of.
Sorry... nerded out a bit, but it's really nuts how much info and following there is on these old things.
