I must say, i've been trying to get 2 new cues for a few months now, i got my playing cue and have been trying to get a break jump. this in no way concerns the buyer of this particular cue, but who is buying these cues?? collectors??? it is just a little funny to me that people want these cues to ACTUALLY play pool with and many times they go to some guy that puts them in a case for the next 10 years. i realize nobody is at fault here, guess i just wish there were more (or maybe i should say some) cuemakers that catered strickly to people actually wanting to play pool with cues.

Cueaddicts had some nice Gilbert J/B cues at the Derby City Classic, and I think they just added some recently to their website (www.cueaddicts.com).

bama,

thanks for trying to help, cue addicts are plum out of gilberts, wont have any until at leats a month.... all this is part of where the frustration of my previous post came from. i mean, i could be wrong, but is seems as though there have been many, many more nice cues produced in relation to the amout of nice cues i actually see people playing with.

We do still have some players Gilbert cues starting around $750, but as of a few days ago we are flat sold out of Gilbert Jump-Breaks. They just don't last long, and it seems to be players are the ones buying them. Andy just builds a heck of a cue for the money...plain and simple.

Sean

BTW, I have two Gilberts that I have just discounted on our site (shipping is included). Here's a link:

Yep, Andy gave me a run down of what he's bringing, and they sound like they'll knock everyone's socks off !!! Including an ivory handle cue !!!

Not many people know this but Andy is at the point in his career where he's beginning to refocus his production on the fancier and unique cues. As a result my prediction is that you'll start seeing somewhat less of the lower-end (players) cues. The next 6-12 months would be a great time for buyers to get one. I think over time, his stuff will see a dramatic increase in value because is so low now comparatively. Plus....everything coming out of Andy's shop is completely "hand done"....without the aide of any CNC. In our time of computer-controlled this and that, I think for that reason his stuff will be highly appreciated over the long haul.

great to hear that

I ordered a simple rosewood jb gilbert, and was happy to see sean's quote :)
But, i wont have it for 6 months, so, i just bought a mace jb, and should have it within a few weeks. It also made me a lot happier to hear sean say players (as opposed to collectors) are buying jb gilberts. Thanks for all the posts on this everybody (i'm not nearly as frustrated and pissed off anymore)!!!

Sean, do you mean get a players cue or a fancy cue?

i hate to speak for somebody, but he was saying its a good time to get a players cue because andy is going to focus more on fancy cues, and that means simple players cues will go up in value because they will be harder to get (kinda like scruggs with his sneaky petes).

Absolutely, I'm glad I got my order in when I did. I ordered a "southwest-style" cocobolo nose cue w/ 4 maple points, leather wrap, etc... about 1 month ago from Andy and I was told that the prices went up immiediately after I put my order in. Basically, Jeff (who works for Andy) said that the day I get my cue it will be worth `33% more than what I paid for it, which I assume is the amount of the price increase. Great work...Great prices, I can't wait!
