I just ordered an additional new shaft for it from Mike.
A 14mm solid maple shaft with a black linen phenolic ferrule...like the one Earl is now using.

There is no weight bolt or metal in this cue.
The top shaft in the photo does not come with the cue.
This cue has one of the best leather wrap installations I have ever seen. It took me a long time to find the seam.
The look of this wood is really unique. It looks like some picturesque driftwood that you would find on a postcard beach scene. Guarantee you won’t find anybody in the pool hall with the same cue.
It is extremely well balanced and would make a fantastic player for someone who likes longer cues.
FWIW, Mike makes Earl Strickland’s cues and he also played professionally. Mike played on the 1995 and 1996 Mosconi Cup teams. He knows how cues are supposed to play.
You know darn well that Slamboti you got off eBay is keeping you from reaching your full potential.
So is that Balakalushka and Preditater you got from Goodwill and alibaba.com.
Step on up into an American-made cue by a professional cue maker and player.
$900 + shipping or trade for cue of similar retail value.
As you can see from Mike's text below, the price for building this PHX cue with one PHX shaft is $1350.
If someone wants to make a trade, I am only interested in 58” cues…I am short. Also, I prefer 13mm shafts.
