70's Joss West Please help

This is a friend of mines cue, he ordered it new in the 1970's. To Anyone who has a blue book would you please look up the value for me. The butt cap is not original. Also I am not sure of all the wood used, I assume BEM on the forearm but not sure about the butt sleeve. Any help on its value now would be appreciated or a link where I can look it up myself.

Except for the steel joint (mine was ivory), it looks identical to a cue that was stolen from me about 15 yrs. ago.

As far as price, I have seen models similar to this selling from $1600 to $2500.

The value of my cue - priceless. Best hitting cue I ever had. It felt like an extension of my arm.

Not to hijack this thread, my cue had the Joss West logo inside the joint on the ivory facing,not on the butt. If anyone knows of this cue, I will pay well to get it back. No questions asked. Just PM me.

Cue market is very bad right now. Keep that in mind when you do your analysis as its not what the book says, its what people will actually pay.

Well that sucks that someone stole your cue. My friend is not looking to sell it. I was just wondering what they were worth and what kind of wood made up the cue. Good Luck on finding yours. I was hoping to get a link showing this cue, maybe somebody has one.......Thanks

I traded one off VERY similar at Valley Forge this yr. It was a JOSS when both Janes and Stroud were together...Its value <to me> at the time was $1100-$1200 range. I did have 4 shafts for it as well!! Good luck...

In the first pic the point appears to be either ROSEWOOD or MACASSER(sp?)
EBONY. In the last pic it appears more like EBONY. Would need the cue in hand to be certain.

With one shaft I would value it between 9 and 11 hun.

There are 2 shafts, one has an ivory ferrule. I just did not take a photo of the other. Also he would like to get it refinished, is there a long wait for Stroud to do this if he is even doing it anymore. And if not who would you recommend to do this?

Add 1to2 hun for a second shaft if it's close to 13mm.

If STROUD is not an option to refinish I would LEAVE IT ALONE. It appears to be in good condition.

Not having the original buttcap with the J and sideways W logo really hurts the value with collectors. It cannot be replaced unless you find a broken cue with the part. Sorry to say I would put it at more like $800 without the logo.
