$740,000 First Prize for World Heyball Championship in China, March 25, 2023

wish there was more info on this one
anybody know which pool players are trying to get in on this?

you would have to think Shaw would want a crack at this, Melling too

with 740k i would anticipate the return of Garreth Potts, maybe Selby, Appleton if he's healthy and a heap of uk 8 ball players

it seems as if qualifiers even have room and board covered

Not sure if he’s still playing but Shaw had a Chinese 8B table at his home for some time:

There really isn't 1 dominant player. Yang Fan, Zhang Yubo, Chu Bingie, and Zhao Ruliang are the top dogs. There are a number of killers that are roughly college age also. Wu actually won one of these a couple years ago, and Melling made the finals once, but typically even super-straight shooting pool players don't shoot straight enough to hang with these guys
The reason is because pool on regular pool tables is easier to pocket balls and get position. C8 players learn to shoot with extreme accuracy and the trade off is less positional routes are available. A result of this extreme accuracy is that they play much much tighter shape out of necessity. Pool players are accustomed to having more cueball positions that work to pocket the object ball and get position on the next shot.

Western pool players simply have not trained to be that accurate. So as good as they are the positional inaccuracy coupled with the shot line accuracy is too much to overcome. They really need to get the c8 table and practice deeply to train themselves do a higher level off accuracy and pattern play.

The Chinese are China is not playing pool, and you're entitled to your opinion, dangerous for sure, ignorance is.
Neither China the country nor the Chinese people wish for the demise of the United States. However plenty of Americans wish for the destruction of China and the death of the Chinese people.

Having lived in China for 7 years I would say that I happen to have a little personal experience in this area.

You are correct that ignorance can be quite dangerous.

It should be corrected to, the CCP wants to see the demise of the Western World.
The party is the main issue there.
The Chinese people are just the sheep in their own backyard.
The last decent rulers got to Taiwan, unconquered and made a nice democracy showing the issue isn't the Chinese people.
CCP wants something that was never theirs, Taiwan. They can go jump.

If an American or foreigner wins what tax consequences does China CCP take?

None of the Mandarin speakers I know play pool, and none of the pool players I know read Chinese or speak Mandarin. Is there a pinyin translation for Chinese 8 ball?

Typically foreigners are recommended to hire tour guides for their entire trip.

This is also not true. The ccp is an organization filled with politicians and bureaucrats. They are not ideologically opposed to democracy or "Western" values. At this point the words "communist" and communism are meaningless in China. The ccp is actually an authoritarian system that is most interested in managing China's survival for the benefit of the Chinese people. They believe that the principles of good citizenship are important to enforce because of the need to have a peaceful society of 1.5 billion people is practically necessary. But like any other large organization they are full of corruption.

What the Chinese don't want is any other nation telling them how to manage their country. They are clearly guilty of human rights abuses but they themselves don't agree that their actions are abusive to human rights. They believe in a greater good giving them the right to suppress dissent.

But mainly they are not interested in the destruction of democracy or Western nations. They don't have imperialist ambitions. What they do have are national security mandates which are why they are using investment to form alliances with third world nations in emerging markets.

As for Taiwan. It is a thorn for the ccp that a thriving democracy coupled with a stock market and populated by Chinese people is sitting right off the coast. The same was and is an issue with Hong Kong. The ccp definitely believes in authoritarian power rather than messy unpredictable democracy based on populism as the best way to manage a nation built on a capitalist economy. They believe that the government should have the ultimate unrestricted power to act because it is, in their opinion, the responsibility of the government to be in firm control of every citizen and organization that exists within their borders. Not as a form of suppression but instead as the foundational and structural support for the well-being of the Chinese people.

We do not agree. The principles of liberal democracy are antithetical to the the principles of authoritarian governance. We prefer government that can be changed by the will of the people. The communist government prefers government that directs the will of the people through indoctrination education on good citizenship for the benefit of the nation.

That government doesn't want to destroy the west. They want to take from the west whatever they can that they feel will help them keep China manageable and secure. They want the tech, they want to be invested, they want the manufacturing business, they want foreign investment into China. They want to know what we are planning politically and socially to expand our influence throughout the world and work to counteract that and expand their own influence.

That's basically it. No one is running around China promoting the destruction of America. In seven years I never once met a person who was negative about America. Just people who were curious about America.

I never saw a single story about people gathering to wish harm upon America. Of course that doesn't mean such people and groups don't exist in China. Just that they are seemingly in the extreme minority if they do exist.

There is a pinyin translation for everything.

8 qiu says my Chinese wife. Literally just 8 ball.

My other friend says

Ba hao qiu - 8 ball
Zhong Ba - Chinese 8 ball

Thanks, I am well aware what the Chinese Communist Party is and what their agenda is as well.
I could not care less if they think their human rights abuses are ok, they are not.
I have dealt with CCP China many times over the years in business, only a fool trusts them.

No one said trust. I disagree with your assertion that they want to destroy the west. And no one said that any human rights abuses are ok. I said that what you call abuse they call normal management.

It doesn't matter what you care about. The fact is that China is a nation with 1.5 billion humans to deal with. And you clearly cared enough to do business there. No one forced you to.

And as you claim the government there is hard to deal with. Which is true because they are interested in what they think is good for China over what you think is good for you. Their bureaucracy is heavily layered and very dense. They respect hierarchies and any overstepping can result in heavy-handed shut downs. Corruption is prevalent.

Still, even so, they aren't interested in destroying the West.

And I disagree with your views on CCP China and their motives, that is ok to disagree.
I also have spent time working with them, I have a Chinese business partner in one of my companies as well, whose mother is a party member. He absolutely dislikes the CCP, with good reason.
I have seen and heard too many stories of oppressive behaviour to maintain control over the population and we welcome Chinese dissidents here in Australia.

You made an assumption on your next paragraph.
Let me correct that. Yes, I was forced to work with them as that was a decision made by the people I worked for.
Which funny enough backfired on them, as I warned them it would.
This was more than a decade ago now, and I use examples like this to change supply chain every chance I get.
I have no interest in supporting their manufacturing sector or economy.
Especially after their poor mismanagement of covid and their lies to the World.

I know what they think is good for China, the CCP is driven by the same ideals Russia once had and several other failed communist states. The Chinese living here who are still loyal to the CCP I know, would love to see the same approach everywhere in the World. I have had many open conversations on this topic with them.
It is no great secret really.

I do agree with you on corruption is massive in the CCP. Where you sit in the party determines how much of this equal share you get, the idea communism is supposed to be making everyone equal is a joke in reality.
I have also heard of business deals going south there where the party doesn't get a big enough cut, so visitors get thrown in jail for trumped up charges of trying to corrupt officials... when the same officials would have ignored a deal if their cut was larger.
Like I said, only a fool deals with CCP China expecting open and honest deals to be made.
Zero respect for copyright, trademarks and any intellectual property.
No respect for international law either.

Literally every country they share a border with they are trying to push into new territory.
They claim virtually all of the South China sea, which is total BS.
Sorry mate, but their goals and plans and their bait and trap belts and roads initiative is a planned and deliberate attempt at destroying the Western way by death from a thousand cuts.

Luckily, the best thing that came from their poor handling and lying from covid was the giant wake up call the World got with the stupid push to globalisation and outsourcing too much to one country. China.
Now we are seeing huge investment and time to correct this error in supply chain.
Biggest resurgence in manufacturing in decades in Western countries around the World.
Breaking the chains to China is the ultimate goal.

Ukraine has even helped as well, as CCP China has supported Russia in that resource grab of a war.
Why?
Because China has ignored sanctions put on Russia and has kept normal trade with them. Great, it again showed the World where their true alignment is.
So, let them trade with the less than 10 countries that are part of this new pact and the rest of the World can enjoy better quality with over 140 countries instead.

Your cases are good by the way.
Keep up with your manufacturing efforts to make them USA made.
Which, I assume all components of your cases are.

J.B the Chinese are authoritarian, you just said it. People who disagree with authoritarian governments get killed or stuck under a prison.

The world benefits from less expensive Chinese goods. And China benefits by stealing technology and using that money to spread out (we used to call it colonialism) and exploit developing nations thru:

I don't fear the Chinese, but they are a bad actor. And the world under their control won't be a very nice place.

Respectfully,

There is zero chance that the world will ever be under Chinese control.

None.

My cases are made in China. My workshop and my 25 employees are in China. My mother in law and my father in law run our shop there.

I didn't outsource anything. I built the shop from scratch there.

I don't agree with the Chinese government. I have no problem with the Chinese people.
