77 Total Players in Raleigh, NC Viking Tour Event at Babineau's Billiards

The Trio of Viking Tour Events (Open, Ladies & Juniors) brought in a total of 77 Players to Babineau's Billiards in Raleigh, NC this weekend.

In the Open Division the final 2 on the winners side are Eddie Little and Leil Gay. On the 1-loss side it's Peaches Fuller -vs- Antony Arney and Steve Lee -vs- Mike Fuller.

In the Ladies dividion the winners side is Buffy Jolie -vs- Dawn Fox and Melissa Goss -vs- Stephanie Mitchell. The 1-loss side is Leslie Boulware -vs- Shana Wyant and Tiffany Finnan -vs- Julie Reaves.

Babineau's is a real nice place. They have 16, 9' Gold Crown 4 Tables all with fresh cloth a Full Bar and Kitchen. Everoyne in attendance at the event loves this place. It's a real nice players room.

PS. I spoke with Shannon Daulton of the Great Southern 9-Ball Tour and he stated he had 54 Players at his event in Goose Creek, SC. Also, Robert Ray from Play-2-Winn Billiards stated that he had about 120 players at his league event in Raleigh, NC this weekend. All of us directors expected low turnouts for our events because of the HOT weather but as it turned out, this was a great weekend for tournaments. Can anyone else please give an update to this thread with other event turnouts for this weekend.

The winners from the Juniors events were:

In the 19 & Under Division:
Adam Davis (age 17) won a $350 Viking Cue. Adam was already qualified for the BEF Junior Nationals so the qulaification spot whent to the next highest finisher Trey Sprye (age 18). Additionally, Tiffany Gosse (age 15) from Cedar Rapids, IA won the girls division and received a quailification spot the the BEF Junior Nationals.

In the 14 & Under division:
Corbin Coe (age 14) won a $400 Viking Cue by winning the event. Corbin was also previously qualified for the BEF Junior Nationals so the next in line finisher, Patrick Leonard (age 14) from Cedar Rapids, IA won the qualification spot to the BEF Junior Nationals.

NOTE: Next weekends JR event was cancelled. The event was going to be held at Mr. Cues in Atlanta but to to new smoking ban laws JR players may no longer come into the room. The Viking Cue Ladies Tour ($1,000 Added) WPBA Ladies Qualifier event will still take place.

Mike, i live in central FL, 30 miles from Tampa, is your tour coming to the area this year?
 
Open Division:

Leil Gay defeated Eddie Litte 7-1 to win the Hot Seat.

Eddie Little and Mike Fuller just finished the Semi's. Fuller won 7-1

The finals are Gay and Fuller.

3rd place = Edie Little
4th place = Peaches Fuller
5/6 = Anthony Arney / Steve Lee
7/8 = Mike Triplett / Dave Brown
9-12 = Sammy Odom, Arnold Hamlett, Chris Vollman, Sam Monday
13-16 = Mike Janis, Tony Williams, Jim Faircloth, John Odom

Why is there not a tour stop in Kentucky? I am surprised that no one does this. Especially with the successful turn out at DCC. Kentucky has many good players and fans.

KY Boy, we havent had a good Viking tour event in KY since 2001 when we had 227 players at the Continental Inn in Lexington. If you know of any good rooms willing to host an event in your area please email me the rooms name, address, phone #, email address and a contact name and I will try to get one there for you.

We prefer, Food, Alcohol, Minimum 12 tables of the same size and quality. Room for players to sit around with friends and spectators.

Ladies Division:

Melissa Goss, the hometown hero here at Babineau's won the Ladies Division in a 2 set final over Stephanie Mitchell from FL.

3rd place was Dawn Fox
4th place was Buffy Jolie
5/6 was Leslie Boulware / Tiffany Finnan
7/8 was Shana Wyant / Julie Reaves
9-12 was Linda Hatch, Aimee Kilby, Laura Lee Stinson, Karen Webb
 
Mike, if you could pm me with the specifics of your requirements for your tour, i work in a poolhall in Lakeland,FL(Wallys), which is in between Tampa and Orlando, so we can draw from both areas! We have a good relationship with the ladies spirit tour, and usually hold a couple a year for them, but it would be nice to have an open tour come through!

Thanks for the outstanding effort at Babineau's this weekend in Raleigh. Everyone had a great time and the parents really appreciated their children playing in the non-smoking section. We had a group of women that were not only very skilled but exemplified good sportmanship. It was a good weekend for all and thanks again. I enjoyed working with you this weekend and particularly our discussion on the state of the professional game and your ideas on how we can improve the game for both the players as well as the room operators. In unity there is strength. Thanks again.

Viking tour events pay 1/4 of field. 12 places were paid in this event. Here they are as I remember them...

1st - 600
2nd - 400
3rd - 300
4th - 200
5th/6th - 100
7th-8th - ??
9th-12th - 60

You have to realize that women and juniors play free on the Viking tour. Mike really encourages as many players as possible to participate so that the players and room owner all benefit. Mike's tour has many product sponsors and he juggles the open event along with amateur, ladies, and junior events.
