7ft vs 9ft tables

Guess there are not a lot of stats available. Suggest you get on youtube and watch US Bar Table Championships and make some observations and let us know what you come up with.

9 ft tables are way to go all day over a bar box any day. 9 footers help improve your over all game regardless of size of table you consistently play on.

9 ft. Diamonds are the best IMO.

Each demand a different skill set. I feel claustrophobic on a bar box. The smaller playing field makes your need for getting shape a bit tougher, but it also makes for easier shots because of less distance on "long" shots. For me, the 9' is just a much nicer playing experience.

But that's me...the top pros adjust well to either table. Check out SVB vs. Dennis Orcollo (sp?) on Youtube...the 2013 bar box 9 ball championship match. Then watch the same two players on a 9' table.

7 ft vs 9 ft Tables

Its much harder to get out on a 9 foot table playing rotation games since there are long shots and more distance to cover. The break is everything on a barbox and if your breaking good your running out a lot. Breaking good on a 9 foot table you still have to get out and it isn't easy.

I have said for years that if you can't play good on a 9 footer you can't play.

From what I have seen pros break and run more on the barbox.

Everyone with a modicum of skill in this game break & run more often on a Barbox. While some here live in areas of the country where that is all that's available I feel for them as I believe you'll never have a fully developed game if that's what you play on. Personally I won't play on the Fisher Price model, nothing there for me. I don't believe Barbox pool is real pool but I've stated that in other threads & been flamed for it by those that enjoy them. To each his own.

All of my competing is done on BBs, leagues and tournaments are hard to find on 9's around here. I have a 9' table in my basement that I play on almost daily. The biggest difference for me is the way I plan my run out. On the 9' table I try to get everything done on 1 end before going to the other end of the table (playing 8 ball). On the BB I do not not mind having to travel up and down the length of the table a couple of times on a run out. Its like when you are used to playing on a 9' table there are no long shots on a BB. When I first got my table I was thinking that maybe I screwed up cause it seemed like the table was so fricken big, now whether its a BB or a 9' its just another pool table.

Unfortunately in my area all we have are bar boxes. That being said I believe that anyone with skill should be able to adapt to big table with a little practice. If you aim correctly shot is still going in whether 3 feet or 30 feet away. The position routes and stroke are what a person needs practice time for.

I personally enjoy playing on both but believe a 9 footer is the best to play/practice on to develop your game.
