Whether a regular player or league. Does anyone use the game of 8-Ball Rotation to combine practice for both 8-ball and 9-ball games. If so, how have it improve your game?

I cannot see how 8-ball rotation would improve your 8-ball game since most of 8-ball is pattern play. The inherent challenge behind 8-ball is finding the correct sequence of balls to run out hence, you cannot be restricted to only shooting the lowest numbered ball on the table.

Also, there are defensive maneuvers and strategy in rotation 8-ball that simply do not come up as often (if ever) in either 8-ball OR 9-ball. In sum, it's a unique game altogether.

It is

the only way I practice 8 ball by myself, and have for years, and I call it
'Dakota 8 ball'.

And if I play someone for a money set that I know is better than me, I always steer them towards this game. Why? Because I practice it, they don't. They know they are considered the better player and therefore won't turn down the challenge, their egos won't let them. I take them 'out of their element' which increases my chances of winning, especially with them going through a 'learning curve' of the game.

It definately helps your normal 8 ball game, your 9 ball game, your Rotation game, and probably some of your 14.1 game.

I believe it should be the next evolution for 8 ball.

I might add that I am the 2003 Kansas State BCA 8 ball champion when I was 55, and my team won the team championship.
