Ok, you potted small / spot / solid off the break.

Let's assume the balls are real sizes so the 3 would go through the gap and the 15 will plant in the center off the 4 if played ok.

What's your cunning plan?

7 in corner stopshot
2 in side stop or shape for 3 next
3 in corner
then either
6-5-4-8 or 5-6-4-8
A decent player is supposed to run these at a high percentage rate.

That's what I basically saw too.

But now let's assume the 7 is tight and needs a bit of right side to be pottable and the 2 accross the table has only half a pocket (needs precision). Would you change to bigs?...and how would you play bigs?

15 (back roughly to start),
14 (stop),
11 (slow roll forward),
13 (1 rail inline with former 11, 14),
12 (stop),
10 (stop),
9 (long shot, but hitting firm w/ slight draw so I'd be confident it's not rolling off, and if overplayed I have a nice alley over to the side allowing for skid/speed),
8 (breathe sigh of relief because I got out, and probably played it tougher than it had to be :p)

This game is easy from here! If the the 3 goes, then it is 3-5-4-7-2-6. Where is Eferen, I'm ready to play.

Assuming the 7 can't go, I would knock the 3 in pretty hard with a flat ball and try to break up the 7, 2 cluster. You'll still have the 4, 5, and 6 as insurance balls. Of course this assumes there is enough angle on the 3 ball to accomplish the break out shot. If not, i'd go for high balls.

Why mess with it? My way runs out by keeping the cueball in a small space using nothing but stop shots and slight straight draw shots. No awkward shots, no unneeded spin/throw, no power force shots and when done right, the cueball doesn't even need to touch a rail.

Pick the aboslutely simple path. Work backwards from where you need to be to make the 8 and make your last balls simple stop shots whenever possible.

If you switch to the stripes here the crowd would gasp loudly and your opponent would have a big smile on his face...This is 'out scout' time on the solids..

Shoot the 7 roll up for the 4 in the side draw for the 5 in the corner draw for the 2 in the corner stop for the 6 in the corner draw for the 3 in the corner draw for the 8

At least thats how I see it

I like playing the short position right off the bat (if I can) running out a rack.

6 high right create angle on 3
3 low left enough speed to clear 2 to just lower left part of middle table.
5 with 1 tip low left
7 low left
4 draw or high right depends on position given hare one way or the other.
2 roll up
8 Masse jump shot.

Disclaimer: masse jump shot not really needed.
