8 foot tables, what's the point of them?

They have 6 pockets just like the 7 and 9. I don't see a problem with them or see how they could mess up anyone's game.

Agreed I play on both bar boxes and 9ft, my home table is a 8, 8 is right between 7 and 9 so how can it ruin it its a pretty good balance for both my games.

8 footers

Your just in the wrong part of the country.........8 ft all tourneys in texas and okla and colo and kansas etc.........not much up east or north or west..................mainly middle america and s east

I've never regretted buying my oversize 8' Centennial. Couldn't fit a 9 footer in my room and had no interest in a 7 footer. I play regularly on 9' Gold Crowns and don't have any problem going from an oversize 8 footer to the 9 footers.

i spent 30k on a 24 by 28 room and i could put any size i wanted in there, i personally chose an 8 ft as i like the larger tables. but i play a lot of league and going from 8 to a 7 is easier for me than going from a 9 to a 7.

I would love to see pictures of your room. Have you ever posted any here?

Mike

8fters here in my town. only dive type bars have 7fters. have a 9fter at home and have no issue going down in size and vice versa.

I played in my youth on an 8-footer with 1-piece slate, or so I thought.

Bought an 8-footer this Spring. Subsequently learned that my youthful table was a PRO-8, 92x46, not an 8.

So now I'm getting a Diamond Pro-8. It's the very biggest that will fit in my space. A 9 won't go.

Wait till I get a new house, though, it will have room for a 9.

I do agree that an 8 is a little weird. It seems a bit congested. However it's still a BIG advantage when you're practicing for 7s, I'd guess. I've played several hours on 7s this week (to try out the various Diamond pockets) and after practicing on an 8 with insanely tight pockets (a shimmed Olhausen), the 7s with loose pockets made me into Mr. Shootoutthelights.

I agree that 9s are the best, but I'd get an 8 over a 7 and I'd get either over nothing.

Don't come to FL, they're everywhere! And If you can play, it really doesn't matter! I have played 90% of my pool career on 8fters, and never miss a beat when i go to a tourney somewhere else(whether 7ft or 9ft)

Tampa has mostly 9 footers. There are a few 10 footers and a few 8 footers, then some dive bars/ dive pool halls have 7 footers only. I have an 8 footer at home. It just barely fits however, I fail to see how my game will be jacked up because I play mainly on an 8 foot table. Regardless of the table any of my local awesome players can shoot lights out on any size table, any cloth table, any bad rolls table, any chipped balls table and any pretty straight broom handle. IMHO

And I play about the same in heels or in flats!
