8 foot vs 8 foot pro table

The back foot distance is an individual thing.

I'm 6'-3" tall. I play with a 60" cue. I have a mid-height stance, with my chin maybe 1 foot above the cue. With the tip at the cue ball, my back foot is about 12" beyond the end of the stick.

No one can answer this question for you. You have to go to a table in your stance and see where your back foot is for various shots.

well i dont want to just accomodate myself, if i have a friend who is a couple inches taller, i want to make sure he isnt bumping into the couch on every shot.

noone on here has a couch or chair they sometimes bump into or almost bump into when taking a shot?

This is a tough decision. I'm looking for a table now, and I'm blessed to have a big room for it: 15 1/2' x 25'. But, we'd like to use the one end of the room, that has a fireplace, as sort of a mini-family room. I'd like to get a 9' table, but might consider smaller if the right one comes along.

How much room to you really need around the table to really feel comfortable, never feel like you're going to bump a wall or something?
