8' Gold Crown III

I drove a long way to purchase an 8' Gold Crown III for $400.00. it had a lot of tarnish on the anodized aluminum parts so i painted them. their new dog chewed the base so i bondoed it and painted it pearl white. the feet and corners are gold xirallic black. it's going to be a thing of beauty when i get it finished BUT when i was pulling the slate apart, the bondo chipped some of the edge of the head-slate. i was hurrying.... it really pissed me because otherwise the slate was perfect. so i need some advice on repairing the edge of the slate where it meets the center slate. it's about 1/16" deep by 1/4" wide by 3" long. i've used JB Weld before and it worked well but not fantastic. it's the same color of the slate so that's a plus.

thanks!

Use bondo to fill the seam.

that's what i was going to do but should i also use bondo to fill that chip on the top of the slate where it abuts the center slate?

here's the table so far. it's going to be white and xiralic-gold black. 8' Gold Crowns have a "baby" look about them that i like. lol...

Yes, the chip out was because the seam wasn't cut first, so that's how that little ditch happened.

That's not a GC III frame... It's a GC I/II.

Looks nice though.

what's the difference?

yeah, i'm going to like the white/black motif. i painted the black parts with xerallic gold black but you can't see the shimmer inside the house. lol... maybe i can put some LED's under the table....

I don’t know what it is about dogs chewing on pool tables but I’ve seen and heard of several pool tables chewed on by dogs...
Once I was recovering a guys GC4, I had the table apart/pockets laying on the floor when I had my back turned or attention on another task the dog run off with the pocket a gully and chewed the shit out it...

GC I/II: End frame members (short sections) are installed between the side frame members (long sections).

GC III: End frame members (short sections) are installed at the ends of the side frame members (long sections).

The first versions of the GC3 had the long side frame members just like the GC1 & 2. They also had pinned slates and T- style straps on the rails for the pocket castings. I have restored one :)

there's no telling what people have done to an old pool table BUT this one seemed all original.

why did they change the frame? seems like the longer side-frame members is a good design.
