I see what you're saying and I am guessing you are mildly joking. You can't be seriously comparing the atmosphere of the pit at the SBE to a baseball game.
I go to Fenway a few times a year and I can honestly say there is no comparison. The occassional fan gets a little rowdy but it's very mild for the most part. Also, you ever try getting Red Sox / Yankees tickets? I can't even get them and I live here so in that regard, my kids are safe :)

If people want to shelter their kids from the real world thats thier choice but it does not change what it is by doing that,

Not trying to pick a fight with you, I'm not, but how is not bringing your kids to the pit sheltering them? You might have your own kids and feel it's acceptable. Fine by me. But when it comes to my kids, they wouldn't see that place until they were of age. Call me over-protective if you want but I only get one shot at being a good parent and IMO, exposing them to that at a young age, is te opposite.

i haven't read all the posts on this thread and i'm probably going to get a lot of flack for it but i just had to post on this. i know who this kid is. i just spoke with his brother last night as a matter of fact. i was also there in the front row sitting down when he came up to play eddie. someone posted 2 pics of the kid and said that they thought that the guy standing in the yellow was his father and if i'm right he is not. i was talking with his brother last night about this thread and unfortunately his brother doesn't have an account on az. anyway, just wanted to say that i knew the kid and that i was there and everyone was cheering for him and when eddie missed that place errupted. i was happy for the kid:thumbup:. he's a nice kid..

I literally created a name just to reply to this.
My name is Barry Much. The 10* year old kid in the pic is Max Much. Im the guy behind the guy in the yellow with the black V neck T Shirt. Max Much is my little brother and is a fourth grade honor student. He plays travel basketball, travel baseball, and peewee football. Also he is a national Junior American Karate team member for Master Fred Scott. Playing pool for Max is jus one thing we do together to bond and have fun. Max did play in the juniors this year, and every year i bring him down to the Pit to show him the worlds top players live in action.

For the second year in a row, while were standing and watching, a few drunk guys offered Max to play in the Pit. Last year, the game he played was for no money and the guy he played would remain playing regardless of the outcome. Unfortunatly this year Eddie Abraham was put on the spot and wasnt aware of this. Like I said 2 guys agreed to put Max in the Game. I understand everyone's "concern" for my brother, and I assure you he is an outstanding unique boy. Also to calm everyone down, Eddie's backer is a dear friend of mine and the money was not literally coming out of his pocket. So please will everyone calm down for your own sake. Max looks forward to this every year, and honestly who wouldn't wanna play in front of hundreds of people against professional pool players, and have everyone, including your opponent, cheering for you.

And finally lol were not southeners, we live just outside of South Philadelphia, and if you'd like to see Max in his real elemant go to the national junior olympics and watch Max break a couple of stacked boards with a spinning back kick, or destroy all competion in form and point fighting.

Seeing both sides.. When the parents are taking their kids to the pool room to teach them how to play and want them to get good. What do you think will happen if they get good and a little older? Gamble Gamble of course no matter what you say.. In my opinion.. A pool room is no place for kids anyway.. Beer, Smoking, Cussing, Gambling, etc... and I say this growing up in a pool room from the age of eight, in which I was gambling by eleven.. So if you have brought them into that lifestyle at such a young age how can anyone be shocked when they start doing what they see!?!

Pool is know as the hustlers and con mans game. That's why pool pays so little because we do not have major sponsors like those in other sports. Who wants to rep chemicals and very shady people without big money already involved.. It's hard to put blinders on to the real pool world. You either know or live a fantasy of what it really is..

Just my worthless opinion of course and I probably have no idea what I'm talkin about. I was just caught with extra time on my hands.
