Simonis 860HR is not a new cloth, as it's been in use in Europe for several years. The HR stands for humidity resistent. Normal 860 Simonis is 90% wool, 10% nylon, the 860HR is 70% wool, 30% nylon. But Simonis made some changes in the shaving process of the playing surface of the cloth, leaving the playing surface 100% wool, which marks up far less than nylon, which is where most of the ball burnish marks come from that are seen in the break lines and rack marks on any cloth having nylon. If given the choice, I'd stick with only using the HR Simonis, not only because it has less transfer of cling to the balls from humidity in the cloth...(30%) nylon, but also because the cloth hardly marks up as well.tjlmbklr said:I was reading another post and noticed someone mention Simonis 860HR. What is the HR. I tried Simonis' website and found nothing.
Is it faster/slower, longer lasting, all of the above?
Just curious.

If you're "Letting your stroke out" you must be playing 9/10 ball...LOL I'd go with the Simonis 860HR Tour Blue, you won't be dissapointed:wink:tjlmbklr said:Thanks Glen;
Maybe you are the best person to ask here.
When it comes to Worsted high speed clothes where can one get an accurate rating on the speeds. I have played on tables with 860, 760, GT2000 and others that I wasn't sure of. The 760 is by far the fastest and I would never ever ever want this on my table. Maybe, maybe if it was a 9 ft with very tight pockets where shooting soft is a must. I had 860 and but it quickly went to sh*t when I brushed it too many times and it was in a very humid room. Here is my old post about it. So then I went with GT2000 (same as league tables have). It played much fast but I never put a brush to my cloth again. I have since moved and money was tight so I salvaged the cloth. I wasn't concerned about anything other then using that same cloth at what every little cost i could. So I soaked it so I could stretch it then I line dried. Yes dumb I know. But I was able to set it back up with only the cost of table shims.
So needless to say it plays much slower. So I am torn on whether I want to go back (some day) to 860 or do GT2000 again. How would 860HR rate next to GT2000 cloth? I have an Olhausen standard 8ft with like 4 1/2" pockets. I want to be able let my stroke out but also want it to play fast.
Decisions decisions!![]()

Dartman said:860HR is between 860 and 760 on speed and designed to minimize friction marking - thus the new
name High Resistance (formerly Humidity Resistant). Same price as 860 or 760 for now and currently
available in Tournament Blue, Blue Green, Simonis Green and Royal Blue.
I read your thread from 2006. Couldn't tell much from the poor quality pics but my initial thought was you
got a knockoff piece with a simonis label - in other words not genuine simonis. I could tell a lot of people
that didn't know what they were talking about replied to your thread.
I'd feel pretty confident that if you get the HR and install it correctly in a normal humidity environment
then you shouldn't have a problem.
tjlmbklr said:So any idea what the speed comparison would be for GT2000 cloth?
As for the Simonis from '06; I had it installed from WI's most reputable Rec room supply stores. He even got me in contact with a Felice at Simonis.
So I have reason to believe it was the real deal.
So as of now I am still torn between 860 (which I know in the right conditions I like), 860HR (which I know nothing of other then this thread), or GT2000 (which I know a lot about).
It may be awhile before I re-do my table. When I have the cash my first project will be to remove the pesky column in the way.

Most peeps wouldn't know that this exists. That episode is history anyway.
I'm not entirely up to snuff on the 2000 but my (reliable) sources tell me that 760 & 2000 play about the same speed.
If you only play at 1 location (or a fav) then you'd probably do well to get the same style of cloth they use but be aware
that differences in the table, climatic conditions and quality of the cloth install would make your home table play differently.
tjlmbklr said:Thanks again Dartman
But just make you aware I have a friend who recently had a table installed his house. Him and I play league together. He wanted cloth that was comparable to the pool hall where we play (GT2000). The installer told him he would do Simonis. We assumed he meant 860. Only to find out later it was 760. And let me just say this......WAY TO FAST! It's almost not even fun to play on.
Again my 2 cents.
Dartman said:No worries.
My source for the speed comparison is the main company that sells Gorina cloth.
As I mentioned - differences in the table, climatic conditions and quality of the cloth install would make your home table play differently. Consider also that the these factors together with the cloth age and quality of maintenance at the pool room may cause their cloth to play slower then it should compared to the new cloth install at your buds house. Make sense?
Speedwise just a slight tad faster then 860.tjlmbklr said:I am remember speaking with you in the past when I was considering upgrading (or replacing rather) my 860. I touched base on the Velocity Pro. Where does it stand in all of this?
Then that brings me back to my original thought; maybe Velocity Pro is the right bet for me. What is your price for an piece for a 8ft table?Dartman said:Speedwise just a slight tad faster then 860.
It's been available for 18 months now and comments have been good.
