8ball bar rules by region

Well pushout, you got push'n'pool to agree with you.
That definitely tells you your thinking must be correct and adds some weight to your case ;)

OK but seriously. Virtually everybody I've ever met who claims to be shark-proof, isn't.
Nobody on the forums like to admit it. They'll own up to stroke flaws or losing their temper
but you rarely see anyone just openly say "yeah, little moves like that throw me off and can cause me to miss".

I don't think that's because only a small handful of people are affected by these moves.
I think it's just embarrassing to admit. Lots of people are affected, but they
claim otherwise because they don't want to encourage anyone to use it against them.

The rule is there to discourage people from making sleazy little moves to distract the player.
Whether you think a particular move is effective or not... doesn't change the fact that sharking should be discouraged.

I never claimed to be shark proof, I've had other moves pulled on me, like insisting that I stand/sit in a different spot, that worked until I realized what it was. Just that one never worked on me. I always concentrated on finishing the rack. You didn't answer my question;)

ABSOLUTELY it works on me :p

Ditto someone walking up and/or grabbing the rack.
Part of it is my brain switching gears like I think the rack is over even though it's not.
And part of it is annoyance that someone would pull a blatant move on me.

Occasionally it's just someone not thinking... but usually just telling them once
"if you grab the rack, the rack is over." does the trick.

But it's hard to imagine anyone just 'accidentally' unscrewing
when they're not done playing pool for the day.

Hey Poolkiller or whoever your screen name is this week, do you have video of your RAM shot, I would really like to see it so I can practice that shot myself. Racking the 8 on the footspot really sounds unusual to me, we usually put the front ball of the rack on the footspot..

I've heard about that, but here it's the 8 that always goes to te spot. If you want Poolkiller to give you lessons on the ram shot, you'll probably have to email him, cause I won't bother getting in touch with a guy I don't know. However, I think I've found something which can be considered a ram shot...
