9 ball kick question

When you do not have a direct shot at the object ball and you kick at it off a rail does another ball have to contact a rail (after the cue ball contacts the object first)?

I just saw a kick in the POV stream and don't think any ball contacted a rail after the cue ball legally contacted the object ball but the player that would have benefitted from BIH didn't notice...or I'm wrong on what I saw...or wrong about the rule.

Also, am not liking Daniel's body language although he may be just totally spent from streaming all weekend and then prepping for this match. Now that it's on he may have just lost the last of his energy.

Couldn't blame him and gotta give him props for the effort.

Next time I hope he schedules a break between Daniel the streamer and Daniel the player.

Yes. Either the cue ball or the object ball have to hit a rail.
 
Outside of some games, snooker and rotation (see efren rules on the TAR podcast), you need to contact a rail with any ball after you contact a legal ball. You may have missed the rail contact or the players in the match missed it.
