when you guys play, where do you spot the 9 ball in your racks? i mean, do you rack with the 1-ball on the spot, or the 9-ball?

and what are the advantages of racking the 9-ball on the spot? seems like they rack with the 9-ball on the spot in the U.S. Open.

I rack the 1-ball on the spot.

Putting the 9-ball on the spot is supposed to make the corner ball go in less. Yoiu have a better chance of making the 1 in the side though...

well, i am really sick and tired of getting horrible, horrible rolls off the break. i know i've posted about this time and again, but its utterly amazing how much bad luck i have with the break shot, seems like i rarely ever get a decent chance to run out. if Efren Reyes came to my place, and let me break for him, i dont think he would run out much either. he'd probably just shake his head in disgust, and give the game up.

however, yesterday i started to rack the 9-ball on the spot like they do in the U.S. Open and it seems like i am having more luck. seems like a ball goes in more often, and i get better spreads.

so i think i will stick with the 9-ball on the spot for awhile. at least until i want to torture myself again.

I rack the one on the spot, I've been working on the break alot lately and have found the one just missing the side pocket and going right up table, so I draw the CB back instead of just sticking it and usually have an open shot.

I thought moving the 9-Ball onto the spot is something only done when the Sardo Tight-Rack is being used. With this device major tournaments found that Pros could make the same cornrr ball on every single break if the 1 was on the spot.

I thought the same, AD. But then I attended the Women's Challenge of Champions at Mohegan Sun a few weeks ago --- nine on the spot, no Sardo rack.

My advice to the intiator of this thread is that unless you know that the next tournament you'll play in will use nine on the spot as the break rule, you should NEVER rack that way.

Why is it that every post you make is whining about how bad your luck is or how much you suck or how you can never play your proper speed. You have not once posted anything that was not a negative whinefest "woe is me" sob story on this board.
