9 Ball - Really as bad as everyone says?

will be home in a few weeks bet what you want. I would also bet that corey wouldnt be to eager to bet on himself running out over 50% of the time. you may want to ask somebody before you post your dough.

You want some insight James. Well you have to look at it at different levels. Are you talking about what people want to play or what they want to watch?
Play? You want something harder then 9 Ball, then try 10 Ball. What happens when you perfect that break (I know you are a good player). Go to 11 Ball, 12 Ball? If players want a hard game then play snooker. That IS hard.
Watch? You probably don't have access to top class pool - Matchroom Sport style. But they have spent many years educating a worldwide audience into understanding the rules and tactics of 9 Ball. They won't be jumping in the 10 Ball bandwagon and tipping the baby out with the bath water.

i appreciate your opinions....all im trying to say is that professional 9 ball is a breaking contest, especially rack your own, and maybe the reason pool hasn't achieved the desired level as a sport is because for the casual fan its lacks the drama of poker on tv or even a Sunday afternoon golf tournament or almost any sport that appears regularly on tv

Maybe you should ask COREY that seems pretty obvious. never mind dont ask anyone BET ALL YOU WANT!!!! you have your mind made up so something stupid like STATS shouldnt change your mind. I will probably be off all summer i could use a steady income. Hope we can get together, watch some great pool & one of us make some money. see you soon.

Gotta agree with you on this one. I don't know why he would have posted the MOST useless post in the thread while complaining about useless posts.

you are changing the rules...the whole point of my post is that if a player racks good that 9 ball is a breaking contest and they will get pretty much the same pattern every time

No, not "changing the rules" at all. Just being clear on what they are.

This sub-thread didn't have to do with consistent patterns after breaking...it had to do with your proposition that you know someone who can break and run more than half the time.

I am willing to bet you on that and merely suggested that WSRs control the play and that a neutral racker be employed to avoid arguments over trick racking.

If you are saying that a player can IMPROPERLY rack the balls and get a given outcome, then you are chaning the rules.

You referred to a player "racking good" and that implies that all 9 balls are frozen. If they're not...it is not a "good rack" but an improper rack.

Regards,
Jim

Actually the game starts with someone racking, so i guess its actually a racking contest. frankie can you explain yor definition of a NIT? everyone knows the game starts at the break, but to call it a breaking contest is retarded. stuck on what other s*&^? the fact that players dont break & win 50% of the time. how can it be a breaking contest if the breaker loses over 50% of the time? I think a first grader could understand this but for some reason a few of you cant. now theres a show i would watch ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A FIRST GRADER. I think we have a few contestants right here on AZ.

Oh, it's hilarious alright...because IT DOESN'T HAPPEN!!!!

In a race to 20 there are likely not more than 2 or 3 layouts that are even SIMILAR....let alone the same or nearly so.

Do you guys even play pool? You sure don't watch it much and I'll bet can't name a SINGLE pro match where even a majority of the layouts were similar...let alone all or most of them. (except for that soft break, half table nonsense where Gomez beat Feijen 11-0...or rather Gomez put on an exhibition because Feijen hardly even played in the match).

ROFLMAO.
