When playing 9 ball on the spot and during the course of the game the 9 ball is pocketed after a bad hit. Of course the 9 gets spotted but where? On the spot or where the 1 was racked?

Which ties in to provide which end of the table is 'up' or 'down'!
A peeve of mine. Send the CB 'downtable' is generally NOT what one does playing 1p and will not result in the other player shooting from the headrail... despite which end of the table you're standing at.
