Here is another 9 ball layout from a tournament video. Do you see anything interesting here?

If I was shooting this layout I'd try to do it like this.(see diagram) The whole key to this rack is getting the right angle on that 3. Once you're there it's pretty much over and done with.

and to be honest, you're gonna need one helluva kill stroke to control that CB to the center of the table after hitting the 2 so thinly.

If you must wait until the 4...of course you are taking a bit of a gamble on getting a decent shot on the 5...
I don't like using the 2 becuase the tangent line for the 5 is right at the 3 and the 8 banking off the rail is goig right at the three. would almost need to go rail first into the 5-8 to get a shot, and then you are risking a scratch or cacthing the point and shooting back up table...or who kows where...

Jude Rosenstock said:Not necessarily. You COULD hit the 5 full in the face and sorta drift a little and settle pretty nice on the 3. I see a lot of good things happening on an immediate break out. Of course, if the 2-ball weren't so thin, I'd position for the 3 but I dunno. That looks pretty thin.
