9 Ball (the movie trailer)

If you are a lord of the rings fan at all, or want to see what actually can be accomplished with an extremely low budget, check this fan film out. The total budget was $6,000, and is about 30 minutes long. No person involved in the making of the film was paid, but talented people who were fans worked very hard to do a professional job.

The movie is best viewed with external speakers to insure a high volume level.

If anyone got paid who was involved in making it (you can pay someone for a service like providing props or delivering helmets or renting cameras, but you can't pay someone for wearing a prop or filming with the cameras) then New Line Cinema, Tolkien estate and anyone else who might claim certain rights would immediately step in and shut it down. As long as no person makes any money from the film, even 1$ for copying a cd to mail to someone, it is not copyright infringement. As it is, completely free, there are no damages to those holding copyrights and it is overlooked as all fan films typically are.

Most of the landscapes were done with a special landscape program. An armoury made a lot of the weapons and helmets as donations, etc.

Glad you enjoyed it. There is another ME fan film in the works I will PM you about. (I don't want to hijack the thread, I just thought given some of the discussion about filming on a budget and what the expectations are it was a relevant post.)

What pool hall was this clip filmed in? Also, wasn't there a contest that a woman one for creating a t-shirt that Jenn is suppose to wear in the movie? And wasn't there another "contest" of sorts where someone one and got a part in the movie? I think, IIRC, there was a dude who beat Jenn at some ProAm type thing and he won a part in the film.

Funny. Because Mars Callahan pretending to be a hustler was a LOT more captivating than the 30 second clip of an ACTUAL pro pretending to be an actor.

I totally agree! It might have pros in it, but if it sucks, who's going to watch it? "The Hustler" and "The Color of Money" are considered iconic movies, and they just had "good"(at the time) actors playing pool players. They actually launched a few historic careers. The difference is that they had good actors that had direction from GREAT pool players. This movie has really good pool players that suck at acting. If it doesn't have everything a "decent" movie should, It's going to be a joke.
