9 ball tournament on Bar Boxes!!

Are you going to prorate the added money with less than a full field? Nothing will tick off the players more than traveling to it to find out there are 63 players instead of the required 64, so there is no added money. I've seen it happen before.

Might also want to state what rule format you will be using.

Major point, Neil!

And of course you know the more added money the more attractive it is to players from outside your local region.

The highly successful Lafayette tournament has 128 players and races are to 7, FWIW. One of the biggees is their HUMONGOUS CALCUTTA (player auction).

Here is the new format that i posted earlier:

64 Players Maxium
Entry fee $45
100% paid back to the players
$500 added guaranteed
Race to 9 on winners / Race to 7 on one-lose side
True Double Elimination
Open event
Texas Express Rules
No 9's would count on the break
No 3 foul rule
Alternate Breaks
Rack your own

I went to talk to the owner tonight but she wasnt around so until i speak to her personally i wont disclose the venue or establishment that would host this event. I know this may sound bad to sum but as a business owner i wouldnt want anything posted on the internet till a deal or an understanding is compromised...

As far as the format and what i want to do the venue shouldnt be a problem.. I will only say that it will be very near the DC area. Sorry folks but again this whole thread was to see what players thought about formats and what you would like to see happen. Sorry again to be so vague about everything but until i can confirm a DEFINITE prize fund and venue its still up in the air.

I hope you all understand and know that im trying my best to bring a very solid tournament and not taking any money for myself for the event.. Next time?? Maybe because its only fair but i work hospitality for a living and thats where i make my money.. Not pool!!

I want to see pool thrive here in the DC METRO area and my love for the game will pay me when i see players in my events leave happy and paid.. Nothing is more satisfiying when somebody shakes my hand after a two and out and thanks you for a well put together event... That would bring a massive smile to my face and make me happy. Money will never bring that to you. I know this first hand because when i played at the Turning Stone event this past December (after a two and out) i went up to Mike Zulgan and told him thank you so much... I loved the event you have put together here and i will be back. Thats it and he deserves to hear it every once in awhile.. Thats what i would like to hear myself

Calcutta could be a possiblity...

I dont like the 9 on the break at all and if made it would be spotted right after the break.

No 9's is the way to go along with alternate breaks geared towards the higher end league players that want to give it a shot against the bigger guys ;)

Since you took out the three foul rule, you could take out jump sticks.

Again this might discourage some and encourage others. I personally like the jump cue because it is part of my game. Although, on a 7 footer, I don't feel the need to jump all that often.

Depends on your clientele, really. Personally, it would not make or break a $1000 added tournament if I knew I had a chance of performing to a decent standard.

I like your enthusiasm for trying to put this together. Good luck!
