I would like to see the different opinions on how to progressively give weight in 9 ball using, the following critieria:

Giving up the breaks ("GB")
Offering last balls out ( last 2, last 3)
Offering wild balls 6, 7, or 8
Forcing Called 9
Last pocket 9
Offering Called balls 6, 7, or 8

I have seen mix and matches of any combination of these and would like to see the discussion on what makes sense and disucssion on when do you offer one type of weight verses another based on player style or speed, table condition, etc.

Please line out the list from least weight to most weight you consider normal ranking of each. No robbery here, just scientific facts please.:D :D :D

Thanks, but....

I searched the threads myself and found none to answer the question I pose. I would like for input in a straight list like 1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8. ranking each in a sliding scale to see how others rank them. I have seen players offer the breaks only and say it is equal to offering the 8 etc.

Not looking for a long discussion, just people's view of how each weight offering ranks against the others.

Thanks for your input.

One reason people hesitate to make such a list is the order depends a lot on who is playing and on what table.

Take two C-players, for instance, and put them on a pro cut Diamond. The 8-ball in that case is a HUGE spot, while the breaks is no spot at all.

Take two A players and put them on a bar box. Now the breaks is a big spot, and the 8-ball is almost no spot at all.

Weight

First, the spots are purely dependent on the players. The break cannot be given to a runout player on a bar table. The last seven isn't as strong as the 5 out if the 5 out includes counting on the break. Keeping these things in mind, I'll try a short list since I've probably gotten as much weight as anyone.

Remember this is for winner-breaks format and I started to put in order, but don't want to knock a hustle... PM me if you like(anytime only # of ball is listed is considered wild):

Call 9
9 twice
9 back pocket (can add pocket 9 again)
9 last pocket (can add pocket 9 again)
any wild ball
any call ball
any combination of balls
last any number of balls
ball-in-hand
ball-in-hand on every miss
guaranteed any number of shots
guaranteed bank any number of balls
Combo 9
Combo any number of balls
Carom 9
Carom any number of balls

I hear all different kinds of weight being thrown around and this gives me a better undersatnding or options. My 9 ball game has been so sucky lately, I think I need to be creative and start asking for some weight against players, I can crush playing 8 ball. I seem to choke too often on the cheese playing 9, but when I play 8, I am in a comfort zone where I rarely miss an 8 ball. I guess that is because I occassionally force the miss thinking about it being a loss if I miss. When I am staring at the 8 ball, the opponent usually is staring at more of his balls left on the table, so I don't worry about missing. I need to fix my mental kill game as well as find weight that will help me not fear the miss. So, I guess I should be asking for the 5 out.:D :D :D
