9 Balls on the Break

"Gypsy" Mark Pantovic made 4 in a row last year at the Turning Stone Classic. And there were plenty of people there to witness it.

I've done 4 times in a row and 3 few times.

It's always a bad rack. The time I did 4 was recently in league against a real bad rack'r. Think he was a SL3 or something. I actually stopped after #4 and show'd him how to rack it tight on that table so we could actually play some pool.

No kidding. Seriously, Gypsy has to be one of the most amsuing characters in the northeast. I know he gets a mixed review but I can't help but laugh every time I see him. I bet, by the time he made the third 9 on the break, he had the audience laughing hysterically.

I thought players did not want the 9ball to move after the break. If it doesn't move then it's in a good place when the player runs out correct?

with all the players here and millions of racks played someone has to have seen all 9. I have been asking this question around pool rooms for years but never seen it, as I said I almost saw 8 once, it has to have happened, so who saw it? Archer broke and ran 15 on a old Diamond table he told me personally, that seems harder than making all the balls on a break, dont you think?

I've done it 3 times in a row...but it was while playing 8-ball. Just so happens, the "9" was in a different spot in the rack on each of the 3. Does that still count?? :D :D

In 9-ball, I've done 2 in a row....when I first started playing. Haven't managed more than one, every now and again, since.....

Rack them however you like. I'll bet all day that I can get the 9 to hit a rail. I'm all for spotting it up but give the breaker some kind of reward (BIH maybe).

If you win money for making the 9-ball hit the rail, I don't think it would be that hard to do. But if we're talking about an excellent break in an actual game with the balls racked tight, the 9-ball generally doesn't move, unless a ball comes back and kisses it.

The problem with the 9-ball rack is that you can fairly easily make it wired to go straight in. There should be no reward for that, IMO, especially in rack-your-own, which I believe to be a better way to play than rack-for-your-opponent.

My best was 5 times in a row, I broke and won a 9 ball. was down 9 to 3, then came back into the game 9 to 8 that day, after that I ran out 2 times, so its 10 for me on hill, then i won the match. it was a friendly match anyway

9Ball Story

When I had first started playin pool, I was in the pool room practicing by myself. Well, in comes Bozo Davis, older guy around 60 then and still plays baseball till today, he asks me if I want to play some $5 a game nineball. I agree and I win the coin toss. I break and the 9 ball flys in the corner pocket, now you would have to know how Bozo is to appreciate the rest of this story. Bozo grips a bit and starts reracking the balls. I break again and I make the 9 ball the same way. Well you should see him now, you see when Bozo starts gripping it is really hilarious. He reracks the balls with carefulness and again the same thing, 9 ball on the break in the same pocket. Well here I am trying not to smirk but it is so funny. Bozo is down at the end of the table glaring at me talking under his breath about how hard luck he is, he then tells me "If you make this 9 ball one more time on the break I'm gonna quit." So he reracks and blam I break and the 9 ball doesn't move at first but then here comes another ball and kicks it into the side pocket. Bozo pulls out $20 and slams it onto the table and walks out the pool room, mumbling all the way out about what I hard luck person he was, and of course he had some choice words for me. You see he figured he had a fish on the line when he seen me in there that day.

This happened in Douglas Ga at the pool room downtown around 95. Bozo used to be a great snooker player and has always been a colorful person and fun to be around. I will never forget that day. They also called him the silver fox because of his hair and because he was still a playboy.

Hour worth of pool - $2
(4) 9 Balls in a row on the Break - $20
Seeing the look on Bozo's face when the last 9 fell - Priceless

I have a pretty good break for my size and strength. (not me boasting, just what many people .. some who were very good players have told me)

The most i've ever broken in was 6, but that included the cueball and the 9ball.

I've broken in 5 several times.

I've broken in 4 balls a lot.

Most of the many ball breaks were when i broke from the box, and put most of my weight into it.

I've been breaking from the sides with a lil bit of draw lately, and most of the 4+ ball breaks were a few years back when i didn't know as much about the game as i do now so i doubt i'll be making as many balls on the break.

every once in a while, i hit a really nice break where the balls just slide in.
