lol, I gotta admit though, when I was a bit wet behind the ears and played ring games with better players I used to ride the 5 and 9 alot (especially if they were spotted when taken early). I think it was more to tick 'em off than not knowing any better though. :p

There are players that I have seen locally that can run out from everywhere and still have no problem taking the early 9. if there are 3 balls on the table take the run but if there are clusters hard shots ect and the 9 is available take it... all the wins look the same in the final score.

Agreed. Pros do it all the time as well. How many times have you seen pros get ball in hand from a scratch on the oponents' break and take that quick rack?

Or, how many times have you seen the best in the world play the runout AND try to get movement from the 9? Seems like Efren does that 2-3 times a match. Nothing wrong with playing for the win.
