9ball on a 10foot snooker table?

I am curious about something - I play essentially all my pool on a 10foot snooker table using regular-sized balls. 8ball isn't so bad on this table, but 9ball is rather frustrating, because while i don't find the distance a problem, any shot where the OB is near the rail requires extreme precision, and any shot where the OB is on the rail requires a slow, exact shot. (If the OB comes away from the rail more than a couple millimetres, it will not go in).

Now here is my question. How easily would someone of your caliber break and run out on a table of this type, playing with regular-sized balls? (smaller balls pose less problematic as they fit into the corner pockets down a rail) Every time I'm playing, my break and run will be interupted by either a missed shot or a bad leave, and equally common is that i have a long near-rail shot and to get shape on the next ball, i have to hit the OB hard enough that if i am off by a couple millimetres (when the OB reaches the corner pocket), it will bounce around in the pocket and get spit back out.

thanks

Telkwa, I used to like to practice by using big balls on the snooker table because, if I got to where I could run out on that snooker table, the pockets on the 4-1/2-by-9 would look like buckets.

It would be difficult for me to break and run out playing 9-ball using the big balls on the snooker table. Practicing, though, on the bigger table is a good exercise and will sharpen up your game.

thanks! i do find that my potting ability has tightened right up to the point that except for long shots off the rail, i dont really expect it to get better.

when you played with big balls on the snooker table, did you hit rail shots with inside english so that when the OB runs down the rail and into the curbed pocket, it gets thrown into the pocket b/c of the spin? (i cant get them to go in consistently any other way)

When shooting those shots, I shoot the ball the same way. I usually try to play shape for a bank or try to get underneath the ball. I don't want to put myself in that position to shoot those type of shots on a 10-foot table because it's not a real good percentage shot if the table is tight.

Most 10 foot snooker tables that I've played on, if a ball is on the rail, or even 2 inches off the rail, cutting it into a corner pocket is impossible, no matter how soft you hit it. The pockets are rounded, so it just bounces out.

All the snooker tables I've played on do the same...

I really find that they are only conducive to practicing shots where ob is in the 3'x8' rectangle/ center of table.
