Hi,

im looking to renew my leather pockets of my 9 ft diamond pro.
I restored the 10y old table last year, and it has been playing greath, but the pockets where old.

I tried to put on a black leather shoe dye to make them look better, and they do look better, but now when i pot a ball, with the collision force, the dye gets all over my balls. Frustrating. I thought it would go away after some time but i doesnt.

I'm looking to buy 6 new pockets for this baby.

Anyone knows where i could find them?

i remember an old post about someone saying to go to a leather shop and ask them to just put new leather on them, but i'm not sure how much this will cost. Might cost even more then to just buy 6 new pockets. (i dont need the nets, just the higher part)

You have to put a sealer over the dye to keep it from coming off on the balls, that is where the liquid Kiwi shoe polish comes in. The liquid shoe polish, "NOT THE DYE" drys to like a plastic finish which helps prevent the dye from rubbing off on the balls.

ok glen, thanks for the tip.

I dont live in the states, so not sure if i'll be able to find that particular product. except from shoe dye, i dont know any other product like the one u mention. I guess best thing is to ask in a shoe shop

Glen, are you sure this liquid polish wont come off either with the colission force? If you check the burnmarks on the cloth the friction can be high, i'm not sure there wont be any of this dye on the balls too...

Have you tried this before glenn? or is it just an educated guess?

any idea on how much diamond would ask to put new leather around the pockets if i send it to them?
I sended them a mail last week with this question but never got an answer back.

Glen is too anal for guessing. There is no better table mechanic out there. Consider Glen's advice as gospel!

If you would like a new set of leather drop pockets, I can send you some. $240.U.S. Plus freight of course!:D

Burn marks

Glen gave me the same advise (Kiwi and saddle soap) last year for my Diamond Pro. It greatly reduced the black marks but sometimes still get those annoying marks. It also helps to keep the balls waxed/polished.
Best Regards,
Hal
