A break tip/ferrule question?

I have 2 different break shafts ... one has a shortened ferrule with a White Diamond. The other has a black phenolic tip/ferrule combo.

I get much better control from the WD with essentially zero miscues. The phenolic seems to transfer more power, but miscues more often and loss of control plagues it.

My question is ... what if a phenolic ferrule was sanded flat with a WD tip installed at the end?

I would think this would be the best of both worlds ... but I don't know if the WD would have adhesion issues?

Has anyone tried this?

A more accurate statement would be that lack of control plagues you. It is what it is, a hammer. Don't try to put so much spin on the ball because it won't grip the ball if you hit it too far off center. If you hit it closer to center, it should do what it was intended to do. Otherwise, you should be able to mount a tip to it if you machine a flat spot for the tip.

Been there done that. A phenolic ferrule and a WD tip plays really well. It jumps and breaks with power and control. I have done 3 of these combinations for players including my Girlfriend and have not had 1 come off. Any questions you can PM me

Are there any tricks to getting the WD to adhere well to a phenolic ferrule?

I talked to picone and he suggested drilling 3 small holes kinda like eyes and nose of a smiley face in the bottom of the tip real shallow just to get glue in there for some sheer resistance. Since I have done that i have had no problems. I have tried and used both loctite gel as well as gorilla superglue with rubber and they both work fine.
