A Chance to Change Pool's Image?

I agree that tuxes today aren't going to get it at tournaments today....however a good dress code is, like dress slacks and a collared shirt....

As far as the image of pool goes, especially in the world of professional pool, charismatic people can have a positive and negative effect on the sport....For example I have seen Earl Strickland on camera after a match bad mouth his oppenent...not good...at the World Cup in 2003, I think, he did his little beetlejuice dance. I just died laughing....but still this is NOT what the sport of pool needs....

Ralf is not the most emotional player when in a match....but I still enjoy watching him play....

Others like Keith McCready get the crowd going, he talks to people in the area, chides them, I find this puts a good feeling in the crowd. On the other hand I have seen people in tournaments get upset with people for moving around in the crowd and yell at them. This definately is not good for the image of pool....

We could do more to improve the promotion of pool and the IPT is going to be a positive step towards that end....

Even the cloths bought in Sears/WalMart appear neat & nice if they are WASHED & IRONED well with STARCH.
The key is WASHING & IRONING and using STARCH if they are cotton

Even the `Channel, Fendi, lagerfeld, Armani` can look ugly if they are not washed /dry cleaned and Ironed.

I think ...

there might be a few that don't exactly live up all the way
to the regulations, or ones justing trying to cash in a big
tournament one time, but for the most part, I think the
majority of players will put their best foot forward, and
view the IPT as a way to give them some type of security
in the future. Some of the newbies in the future IPT
tournaments may have to make some adjustments, but
I don't think the seasoned touring Pros will have much
of a problem other than shooting in clothing which they
might consider uncomfortable, especially the dress shoe
part. I, myself, can not stand to shoot in long sleeves,
or even in a button down shirt, I always wear pull over
type shirts, and push any sleeves up to 3/4 length.

I know Gabe Owen is taking this KOH tournament and tour
serious, because he even moved to Florida in anticipation
of it.
