A couple cues heading out

I love the Tad player styled cue, close enough to look great but not so close it look you are trying to copy an original Beautifully clean work and I bet on hell of a jam up player.

Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful New TAD! - 08-14-2011, 08:48 PM
About five years ago, a good friend of mine left his home in Central Calif and drove to Reno, Nevada for a major tourney. He played all day into the early evening. Instead of staying over, he decided to drive home. He returned to his home in the very early a.m., worn out from the day. He walked into his house, leaving his suitcase and cue and case locked in his trunk. Years before, his best friend had given him a 1970's TAD Plain Jane, just before he passed on. When he went out later in the morning he found his trunk lid ajar, and suitcase, case and cue gone. That night three cars adjoining his property were broken into and items stolen. The loss of his cue nearly caused a wonderful pool player to quit the game.

When I heard about his terrible loss, I wanted to replace the cue for him. However, there was no way that I could afford the $1,850 needed for the purchase. I contacted my good friend, Jim Pierce of Pierce Custom Cues, and asked him if he might be able to build a TAD TRIBUTE for my friend. After about 6 months, lots of studying photos, and diligent efforts, he built the cue for my friend.

All I can say is that Jim did one hell of a job, duplicating the cue. I had cleaned the cue a couple of times for my friend, so I was quite knowledgeable about the specs. Jim matched them very close. I, along with a half dozen close friends, had a "Roast" for my friend, and presented him with the cue at the end of the event. Had I not told my friend that Jim had made the cue, he would not have known it was a replica. I will always appreciate what Jim did for me, and my friend.

ADDENDUM 11/11/12. The man who the cue was built for was visiting family in Las Vegas. He stopped in at one of the major rooms in Las Vegas. He was playing a few racks with a man who had a TAD, identical to the one Jim Pierce built. Long story short, the man offered my friend $2500 on the spot for his cue, wanting to have a pair of "TADS". My friend replied, "first of all, I could never sell my cue, as it is a gift from a friend, and secondly, if you will look closely at the cue, you will see that it was made by JIM PIERCE. The man shook his head, and said, "You sure fooled me. I probably would never have known, until I got it home and looked at it. Thank you for being honest.

I have been a friend of Jim Pierce for several years and have seen the majority of his cues being built, and can say that Jim puts his heart and soul into every cue he builds. Jim is a true "Player", who builds players for players! I can't wait to receive the NEXT cue that Jim is building for ME!
