Here is another update from Jim, its a pic of the first point he has in. I decided to change my forearm from birdseye maple to curly maple. I made the change alittle late and Jim said it would be no problem (I think he baited me with the curly......hehe). But here is my forearm so far and I couldnt be happier!!

Points are all glued in and I had to call him because he had a question on the ringwork (the original way I had it would make it look weird) so him contacting me saved me the trouble of the ringwork looking funny. I should have another update pic in another week:D Still 100% glad I went with Jim!
 
Wow, this is good stuff, I think my next cue will be of my own design. Of course when I can afford it. (I'm really getting the bug, if you know what I mean).

Your cue is looking really nice. Love the colors, who knows, might be the NCAA champion cue.

Can't wait to get mine either.

And on Jim, he is a great guy to talk to, is particular to detail, and can design what you want. Never thought about designing my own cue, until he brought it up to me. Now I can't wait to see it in my hands. Quality work by a quality guy, for less than you might think. He isn't cheap, but you won't know until you ask him if it is in your range. Buy a cue made and designed for YOU!!!

Can't hurt to ask Jim. You will be pleasantly surprised!!!

his prices are more than fair for the work he's doing for me. and hes a great guy to deal with too. anyone looking to get a custom made at a good price should contact him.

I agree his prices are very hard to beat. I went back and looked at his threads on here to look at his cues just to make sure he built what he said he did. He was well under 150 bucks or more than the other cuemakers I looked at for the same cue and they wouldnt give me the colors I wanted like Jim did. He went out and got the colors I wanted even though he didnt have them. He has bent over backwards for me and has NEVER jacked up the price one bit.
 
yea he did the same for me cuz i wanted a special type of wood..u will see what i mean when my cue is done in a month and a half or so.

How about that Birdseye!!!! Lots of eyes!!

Perfect Mardi Gras colors - Purple, Green, & gold.
And wait until you see the Fleur De Lis inlays.
Can I say ivory joint, ivory ferrules, ivory hoppe ring, and ivory inlays!!
Gonna be a looker within the next few months.

Already working on another design with Jim I call "GOTULANE"!!!!
The Mardi Gras cue will just be a taste of Jim's work before the big meal on this cue!!!

Jim is a great guy to deal with, and get a cue YOU design!!! Can't beat that with a stick.

Can't wait to see everybody's designs come to life from Jim's craftsmanship.

Damn I'm slacking on updated pics. Jim told me I should have a pic of the cue assembled by this week. Still gotta do the inlays in the points and butt sleeve, and finish. I'm sure there are other things that I dont know about that has to be done but its coming along very fast!

Smart call going with the curly over the birdseye. Don't get me wrong, I love birdseye maple, it's one of the most attractive woods out there, but it has the potential of snapping in half. I know you don't plan on going around dropping your cue but accidents happen, someone walking by accidentally knocks it over etc... I've seen cues with birdseye forearms snap right in half over nothing major. They call it a "birdseye break"

From the photos you've shown so far I have to say "WOW" I really like the classic look you chose. I can't wait to see the finished product.

Yea after I seen the curly Jim had in stock I immediately changed to it. I thought the figuring in it was unreal.

Yeah, I really love the classic look on a cue. Nothing better.

As for curly maple, check out the forearm on my James White (see below). From the photos you've shown yours looks like it's right up there with this one. I specifically asked Jim to find a piece of curly that had zero bald spots.

Your cue looks awesome, man. That blue is just f-in killer looking.

and no disrespect meant to Tulane with the birdseye comment in my earlier post. I really do like birdseye. That forearm is fantastic and I really like the green/yellow combination in the veneers.

No disrespect - I understand everybody has their favs. But here is more work on mine - it has purple/green/yellow/black veneers for a tribute to Mardi Gras - which used Purple/green/gold combinations way before anybody else:D
