A decent player, and his first custom

No disrespect - I understand everybody has their favs. But here is more work on mine - it has purple/green/yellow/black veneers for a tribute to Mardi Gras - which used Purple/green/gold combinations way before anybody else:D
Here are the pics. Enjoy Jim's awesome work!!!

Michael

Yeah, that's really nice, man. I like the color combinations you chose. Can't wait to see this one finished too.

Here's the latest update on mine. I'm glad I chose the colors and Jim's suggestion on the ringwork.

I'm not too far away:D He's also building a cue for my nephew (that will be 7 this year). Just shows you how agile (only word I could think of) Jim Lee is:cool:

The cue looks great!!!!

Wow - love the NC blue, and the ring work is very nice. You are going to be one happy player!!!!
Jim does great work.

Yep cant wait for the inlays. I think they will look awesome in the Tarheel Blue over the Ebony. I might have this bad boy for the city tournament and cant wait to show it around:D

Here are the pics for my nephews stick. Nothing fancy, just a good player for him. Just wanted to show more of Jim's work to everyone. My nephew is going to love this, as this is his b'day present and he has no clue what it will look like until he gets it. I think he is going to love the lizard wrap!

What A nice uncle. Looks like will be a great present and one that will definitely be used regularly.

More pics of the "MARDI GRAS" cue

Just awaiting the Fleur de Lis inlays, and more finishing, but as you can see - it is coming together quite nicely. Great job, JIM!!!! Looking forward to knocking off players with this beauty.

Michael

Oohhh!! You're putting inlays in that beautiful piece of wood? Please don't over do it. That cue looks so awesome just the way it is.

What inlays are you having done?
MULLY

Just doing diamond inlays (in the blue color) with dots on each corner in the butt sleeve, then diamond with a dot on top and bottom on each point.

Good thing you went with 4 veneers instead. That is a nice piece of birdseye. What material will be used for the inlays?

I was very lucky to get a cue from Jim today to try and sell for him here in the Deep South. I could be wrong, but I think the dark wood is some kind of Wenge (sp?) and the points are American Oak. The pics of this cue does it no justice. He also sent it as I'm trying to figure out whether or not to get a leather wrap as I've never shot with a cue that had one. I have to admit I liked the grip on the lizard wrap on this cue.

On the hit, this cue hits VERY stiff which I like. My cue should be done Wednesday according to Jim so I'll have mine in a week or so. I hope it shoots like this one. Doesnt take much english to throw the cueball around the table, but after a rack or two I couldnt miss. So I put the stick up knowing what to tell potential customers on how a Jim Lee stick shoots like. Lookings at the pics he posted on here when he tried to sell it, it took awhile for it to grow on me. Once I seen it in person it looked 10 times better. There is no doubt in my mind that I made the right decision going with Jim Lee. I have shot with a Rick Howard, a Jerry Olivier with one of his shafts and a 314, and an Andy Gilbert and I like the hit on this cue much better than the 3 I mentioned. I dont act like a cue expert because I'm far from it, but I fell in love with this hit today.

Remember this cue is still for sale for $350 with NO scratches, dings, or dents. You can contact me or Jim if you are interested. On a scale of 1-10 in terms of hit, looks, and craftsmanship I would rate this cue easily a 10 (my only issue was the tip was not shaped round enough for me, but thats no big deal and this is not MY cue). Enjoy the pics!

BTW-The Wenge cue still hits excellent. Jim had a delay due to some family obligations (which I told him no big deal, family before my cue I say) mine has been pushed back a few days but my nephews is ready for clear (he's the impatient one....hahaha).

We had problems trying to find diamonds to match my ring and veneer colors, so my diamonds will be just a tad darker. Doesnt bother me, as I like that color as well and it makes the diamond stand out that much more IMO. I told Jim it was ok and it was full steam ahead. Here is an update pic with one diamond inlayed. I decided to go with a lizard wrap (thanks again to Jim for sending me a cue with one on it so I could test it as I've never hit with a leather wrap before) and think it will look much better than the black w/white linen wrap. Tell me what you guys think!

I almost thought not to inlay anything as the butt look awesome with just the ebony and the rings. But with a black wrap I thought it would look too plain and I'm a sucker for the diamonds so I just had to:D
