Hi,

Here are some cues I will be displaying a Ken's show this weekend. I have been looking forward to this event as it gives me a chance to see my cue maker friends and also buy Mr. Sly and Birthday Drink.:happy-birthday:

Thanks you Ken for all of the hard work you have put in and I for one hope this becomes an annual event and grows into huge classic event in our industry.

I hope that everyone travels safely and enjoys all of the fine cues that will be there. I know I will.

Rick

Here is a pic of Stew and I holding Orca and Orca II 12 point cues. Stew is wearing a special shirt. It is a Pendenis Club sports shirt he was given by Cathy Schuler after Ray Rays passing. Ray played in 38 US Amateur Championships is his life which had been held at the Pendenis Club for many years. Ray won the US Amateur 3 Cushion Billiards Title the year he died. When I asked Stew to bring his Orca Cue for a joint pic he showed up in this shirt to pose in memory of Ray Schuler his good friend. Stew built the ivory inlayed butt sleeve for Orca in Bert Schrager's shop in North Hollywood 30 years ago but the short butt inlays and the assembly of the cue was done in 1992 and Ray Schuler joined the cue and finished it for my good friend Stew. So you see Stew wanted to have a part on Ray in this photo.

Orca II is a tribute cue to these two guys, Stew for his design and inlay magic and Ray for his contributions. Stew is 88 years old, I am 58 years old and our Cue Artist Ken Simonsen is 38 yeas old. This cue is very special to me because it is my firts Big CNC cue attempt but more importantly if represents 3 generations in compilation. Stew's inlays told a story about the food chain. Shark eats fish, Orca eats Great White sharks while dining if the small fish, Surprise! Ken represented this depiction on the handle using a ghosting art technique.

Awesome work. Got a chuckle out of the trademark on the whale.

Hey Paul,

Orca II is a tribute to one of my best friends and a mentor who has advised me for over 10 years about many things in life including my golf game.

His backwards S moniker has appeared on over 70 big cues (his children) that are off the wall with panto inlays. That S has been done in various sizes, been made of silver, ivory and about every cool inlay material known to cue making.

It seemed very apropos to me to have Kenny's hand do the deed on this one as a surprise to the big guy on his grandchild Orca II.

Thanks for the kind words and I will pass them along to Stew tomorrow when he shows up for lunch in the shop.

Rick

By the way Ray Ray was Stew's best friend in life and he is also a life long and rabid Schuler fan.
