I know Allision is a ball or so better than most on the WPBA. Even so in the short races and alt. break you wouldn't think one player would win that percentage of the tournaments. I think it has to do with the way she comes out of the gate. She's at almost 100% while most others have to warm up from say 75-80%. Just MO. Johnnyt
 
My overall impression is that she's the stronger mental player and grinds better when things get down to the wire - for instance when she hasn't come out of the gate strong. Of course, she doesn't find herself in that position all that often...

There also seems to be an Allison intimidation factor for the majority of the other WPBA players that is (apparently)hard to overcome.

the snooker background

Somehow, I have to think that both Allison and Karen, having had the snooker background, have a natural edge at 9-ball against the women.....seems like potting pool balls is easier than potting snooker balls...or am I deluded?
 
It's all of the above: intimidation factor, pall pocketing ability, mental stamina and focus. She also has a good defensive game and kicks very well.

What I notice most is that she makes the most of every shot. I was surprised on some of the videos on propoolvideo.com -- some of the ladies matches seemed like their defensive tactics were pretty poor; almost as if they had given up on really putting their opponent in a tight spot. I didn't see (in their demeanor or shot selection) anything that gave me the impression that they had that killer instinct or desire to ensure that their opponent would not only have no shot, but also be forced to have the short end of the stick in a safety battle.

Needless to say, Allison and Karen are more than a ball above most the WPBA pros. Lee is not far behind; I just wish she'd be able to devote full time to pool but it seems like she's been plagued with surgeries as of late. With new talent like Pan, Kelly Fisher, and Ouschan I'm glad to see that the top WPBA spots will be more competitive. If this is anything like 3-cushion, I hope to see Fisher and Corr got better in the same way that Cuelemans raised his average once the competition forced his game to elevate and maintain a higher average that when he was the most dominant force in 3C.
 
I'd say all of the above + with the tournament set up being alternate break.

I've lost count of how many times I've seen Allison on TV and her opponent is maybe a game or two behind, while Allison is on the hill, and they break n run to only let Allison get right back to the table and do win the match.

Allison and Karen, are probably 1 or 2 balls better than everyone else, and girls like Jeanette, Monica, Kelly, Xia Pan, are probably a half ball less than them.

I'd also say that Jasmin is probably even if not a bit better than Allison and Karen, mainly because she is so aggresive when she is at the table.

The main difference i see with alot of the girls is how strong thier saftey's are.
