A hard bank two ways

Since there was a lot of confusion in that other thread, here is a video illustrating the two possible ways to make this tough, cross-corner bank. The first is with a double kiss and the second is clean, with a single hit on the object ball. Notice the difference in the path of the cue ball on each shot.

This position is easier than the other shot I posted, which had my cue stick over the pocket. The cue ball is on the spot and the object ball is frozen even with the third diamond (a diamond from the side). Anyone with a reasonable stroke should be able to make the double kiss as it only takes about half of maximum right side spin. However, I think this is about at the limit of the double kiss shot. I tried thinner (cue ball to the left) and couldn't come close to the double kiss.

The clean bank takes a lot of right side, like more than most players have ever used before. You have to throw the ball backwards.

Nine-foot Gold Crown 3, Simonis, relatively clean balls.

Great shot, people would go crazy if you call and make the shot in a game!
Peculiar update on your personal hygiene status in there, but I'm glad AzBilliards is the place where we can share.

Sorry Bob 🙈

The extra ball nearby is a clever tell for the double kiss.

Yeah, there was quite a bit of confusion about whether a double kiss was possible/necessary/forbidden.

It's surprising how far the cue ball is kissed back on the double kiss -- almost into the corner pocket. The two cue balls end up going to about the same place near the left rail.

Nice! Which method was more consistently close to or in the pocket?

When I analyzed Alex’s shot (OB 2.5 diamonds, CB in line with corner pocket) frame by frame, it was clear he did it with a thin cut. But looking also at his delivery through the CB, it looks like a center low strike.

iirc PJ showed the cut angle was only in the high 70s. I’m not sure right english is necessary, but a lot depends on condition of the balls and how much cut-induced throw and spin is imparted to the OB.

If I had to shoot the shot, I would try the thin cut. I have spent far more time practicing such thin cuts and have no good feel for how full to hit the double kiss. Also, it seems that the angle in the video above is at the limit of kiss shots. I don't think the shot from the pocket to the third diamond can be double kissed.
