A little confused on BCA and BCAPL

In my ignorance, I have always thought that the Billiard Congress of America and the BCA Pool League was the same, whoops, my fault.

I know I should just email the Billiard Congress of America and find out from the horses mouth, but I feel that there are enough people on here that has dealt with the BCA that could inform me on what the BCA actually does?

I am not looking for bashing the Billiard Congress of America, and I have searched there entire website and read all there articles about there articles on there yearly President's Award, there yearly EXPO, and the yearly college grants they have given out to the top amature pool players and there instructor program. I am not saying they dont do anything for the game, but other than the EXPO which draws about 1200 people a year, what is the benefits of being a member of the BCA.

Marie's husband...Up until 2004, the BCA administered their own leagues. The decision to divest the leagues to a private source was made, and Mark Griffin purchased the league. He has done a great job, and has continued to improve poolplaying opportunities for literally tens of thousands of poolplayers nationwide. As to the benefits of being a BCA trade organization member being worthwhile, you have to decide that for yourself.:grin:

Thank you Scott and I would have to say that Mark Griffin has definitely improved the opportunities for pool players and I hope he continues to promote the game like he is.

Unfortunately there is no BCAPL in our area, but hopefully after I retire next year I might try and get some of these old fogies to change there mind and start one.
