A Little Defense Playing The Ghost

I don't believe Johnny mentioned anything about "comparing" results with anyone else. Just another practice thing for amateurs, which is 99.9% of pool. They get in trouble because they are NOT pros, and should be able to deal with the consequences of their failed run outs by being able to play a good safety if needed.

So, the ghost can be the pro version, and the Phantom is for the amateurs, and folks can pick their poison.

Haha the Phantom... I'll be stealing that one... "Magic" you can keep =P lol

Why do I bother trying to post anything on here...and I won't. Frig off both of you.

Haha... I was just joking..relax.

People can do whatever they want in regards to practice and drills.
My only real point, is don't change something because you fail at it. If you have an issue running out or whatever, then play the 6 ball ghost and work on that until you move up to the 7 ball, etc..

Running out in 9 ball is the norm in high level pool and playing the ghost is practice for this. If you are doing something else, then its as it implies..

Not trying to ruffle your feathers.. :)

I beat the 9 ball ghost with BIH after break all day and all night and have for 50 years. Johnnyt

Hey Johnny, seems to me what you do is a great idea. If anyone does not think that is playing the ghost then they should show me in the giant book of Ghost rules where you can not apply safeties. Since safeties are such a big and critical component of rotation games it only makes sense to incorporate it into your practice routine. i suppose if you need to appease some here you can always call it playing Casper:thumbup:

The other reason that I like Johnnys idea is that sometimes you want to try a safety. Am I the only one here that has marked the ball spots while playing the ghost because you had the opportunity to play an absolute lock up safety instead of trying to finish the rack?

Its a fine idea.. The only thing here is question was that the terminology "Playing the Ghost" implied, break, BiH, lose if you miss...

Its like saying, "You got the Orange Crush", but really meaning the Last 2..???

Its cool... I try new stuff all the time to create easier ways of teaching people. Sometimes it works and is easily understood, and sometimes it needs refinement..
