A little love for Meucci?

My main squeeze for 40 years, a 1984 series Meucci Original, model three. Red-on-red points against the charcoal-stained birdseye made me fall in love instantly. Whaddya think?

Very nice! I wish Meucci made more 4 point cues these days.

Some of my friends have ones from the 90s and they look really cool. I have a newer Meucci (ANW-1) and I love it, but with no points it is less striking.

I am not a big Meucci fan but like you their veneered pointed cues are their best efforts IMO. They did tons of sticker cues, which for life of me cant understand why anyone would want.

The Meuccis with the louder designs had decals?

I was under the impression that they always used real inlays but I could be wrong.

I have no idea what this is referring to. The only "stickers" I know of are the very early cues with a sticker on the butt for the Meucci name, cue weight, etc. I'm not aware of any other examples.

When Bob launched the Meucci Originals brand and MO series cues from Olive Branch in 1975, they used inlays. Some similar designs from the pre-1975 collaboration with Huebler had cheap, coated overlays, but that was a rather short time frame ('73-'75) and not made by the company now known as Meucci, IMO.

They did continue with some of these overlay designs into the MO series, and just a few other examples I've found. I do know that the '84 Gambler was inlayed, and the overwhelming majority of models from 75-89 were also inlayed. I guess I only disagree that they made "tons" of them in that era, just some.

I wholeheartedly agree that those examples are not nearly as desirable. Too many better options for the money.

So they actually improved then?

To my knowledge, all of their current cues have inlays. And they actually look better in real life then on the website.
 
Absolutely, they improved. It was still a transition period when they launched MO and took time before phasing out the overlays.
I'm no expert on everything Meucci, and my only focus is 1975-1989. I don't think you'll find examples beyond the mid-late '80's, but can't say so definitively.
 
Probably the best Meucci I can remember seeing was a 4 point 4 veneer cue with a hoppe butt. Really sharp looking cue. Must have been a one-off because I havent seen another one.

I always like the Meucci, had a couple, there was a favorite that played best.
For the life of me, can't remember which??

Just bought an 84-5, supposed to get here tomorrow. Your cue looks great. I understand what's said above about the sticker cues, not the biggest fan even though I had a gambler with clubs at one point. I love a lot of the Meucci Originals with points though. Also like some of the David Howard and Jimmy Rempe models they made.

The only cue that could "retire" my main squeeze is a David Howard model 4 (the OG "Giant Killer" cue). Maybe I'll get one someday.
