15 years ago I bought my first 'real' cue - I was in the local pool hall and they had a beautiful cue that they took in on trade. It was used, but too good looking to pass up. Turned out it was a Pechauer, and I fell in love with the natural wood recuts in the points. It was a P8 from their 95-97 catalog. A few years later I fell victim to the urge that many people get....to get a 'better' cue, with sharp points, custom made, etc. etc. and I sold that cue to a nice gentleman that lives in Canada.
10 years and MANY cues later I made a promise to myself that if I ever came across another cue like it - I would buy it and never let it go - everything I have purchased since has been subconsciously compared to it. Last week I am on EBay and I see it's upgraded brother - the PR9 for sale for a bargain and snatch it up. New old stock, never been chalked or hit a ball. It is flawless - I almost feel bad using it...almost
Ebony butt with stitch rings and diamonds with ebony points with recut BEM, bocote, and ebony. I don't know if it is the wood they used back then or their finish, but both of these cues had chatoyance in the BEM forearms that is off the charts. This one has a cluster or eyes that literally shimmers and changes shape as you roll the cue in the light. I might just take a video and try to capture it.
Sorry for the novel - pics:
