The following video shows an incredible doubles match between JA/SVB vs Appleton/Boyes.

Lots of drama, some uncharacteristic misses, and IMHO, a whole lotta reason why DA won this Mosconi Cup MVP.

At 49:50 if the video, JA is on a tough 5 ball and elects to play safe and he puts them in bigtime jail. DA comes up and, well, tune in and see for yourselves. And stay with it at least until 52: where he plants a big juicy kiss on Karl. :-O

And if you're in this far, might as well watch this match to the end where you will see one more bit of magic from DAZ.

He deserved the MVP honor, for sure. :thumbup:

Another one I missed.
The kick on the 5-ball by Daz was brutal...that's like getting rivered
at hold'em by a one-outer....
..and getting kissed by Daz might send me back to a golf course:eek:

Did you notice the 'x' bridge..I hate 'em...the way I look down the cue,
that bridge blocks out both sides of the cue ball.

A very exciting match but SVB seemed untypically tight
 
Another great and intense moment of the cup. This truly was an amazing tournament to watch online, I was literally hanging on the edge of my chair everyday.

It's funny after all of those amazing kicks by DA that the Euro team was still saying in interviews that they weren't getting the rolls :P
 
During this match DA came with three or four of these gems. Make no mistake about it, this was a lucky shot but when you give yourself a chance by making a hit, when it looks doubtful, good things can happen.

And yeah, PT, I'd be running for the golf course, too. Three towns over! :eek:

great shot indeed. I posted it as a Mosconi Cup Shot of the Day. There are 2 more shots I posted I think. But this one from Daz must be shot of the Cup.
 
I've been watching all the matches on YouTube and Appleton has blown my mind. Most entertaining pool ever. Some of my favorite celebrations were Johnny Archer's.
 
And another thing, nine ball does not appear to be "too easy" and no need to play ten ball at the Mosconi cup. The pressure these guys are under makes nine ball look very tough. Even for Ralf Souquet.
 
One of the best Mosconi cups ever, congratulations to both teams for offering such promotion to the sport.
I don't know if anyone has spoken of it until now, as a European I'm proud of our players regardless of the result they bring in each Mosconi cup.
On the other hand I really dislike the "extent" of the support by the crowd. Pool is not football and should never be treated as such. Not if any organization cares about the promotion of the sport in the future, where the goal should be giving to more than only a handful of players the opportunity to make a living out of it (in a sport that millions play...).
Besides that, when having the honor to face the team of the nation that gave birth to the sport that all of us love you have to display the proper respect to those players and by no means distract them while they try to perform. Champions like Archer and Varner are the reason most of us fell in love with pool.
Just some thoughts that hopefully will reach some ears.

I like the final 9 ball sequence for the match. Darren leaves a tough shot for Karl, the entire match lays upon his shoulders now... Karl shoots nothing but rail:smile: Misses horribly, but misses on the right side, so leaves Shane a long foot long cut. Johnny says "You want me to shoot it?" Shane shakes his head no and proceeds to almost miss the ball entirely.

That takes a lot of guts to get up and shoot the difficult shot, a person could easily have passed it off, so if they miss the other person is the goat. I'm sure ego plays a part and not taking the shot would show a lack of confidence.

Lots of pressure, a completely different kind of pressure they ever have to deal with. Completely different from money or tournament pressure.

Hat's off to both teams.. playing in the Mosconi Cup takes some guts and playing good is a whole new level of achievement.
