A movie about Efren Reyes...did you know about this?

Dude,

They did this almost five or six years ago. Where have you been hiding?

The movie star Fernando Poe, Jr. died of a heart attack a year or so after this movie was produced. You can get a copy of this movie if you can find any Oriental store owned by Filipinos. The title of the movie is "Pakners."

This movie is called "Nineball" and the director did another trailer that invited people to come to the premier on July 21, 2007 at the CCP theatre. Looks like I just missed it.

IMDb lists two movies called "nineball", one 1996 with John Poague and one in 2007 that lists Efern in the cast.

Tag line for the 2007 "Have you ever wondered why Pinoys rule in the world of billiards? Watch and learn. "

I like that part the says "Boraks pa."

Reminds me of those homemade pool table and pucks again.

By the way, the movie is about a fictional pool player. Effie is just a supporting cast.

"Pakners" is just a good clean-fun movie, nothing really stunning. It's more of a personalities-showcase film.

Tell us a little about your Avatar. It is interesting.
Thanks,

One of my childhood friends is a resident artist of the Prince of Bahrain. The painting is by another Filipino resident artist. The painting itself is about hitting the stage of a relationship when you start thinking about leaving. It's subtitled "Shame" directed to the girl. "Shame" for being deserted.

BTW, his hands are still intact. Arabs are not really as close-minded as most people think.

Added; this is the first part of the story. Just tell me if it's way to graphic.

I agree. though it is a sad thing that most of them still live under the cave. Knew some arabs, particularly women. and they are really nice people compared to their male counterparts. I'm not saying that their male populace ain't nice, but by virtue of the majority.

So the shame is directed at the girl because her man is contemplating leaving her, correct? This would follow along the lines that I have been led to believe as far as the Arab world is concerned and that is that the man can do no wrong as he relates to the woman but the woman gets a poke in the eye if her man wakes up any time of the day or night with a migraine from a hard day/night work. :D Well, maybe not that severe, but it sure seems that way. I am open to other opinions. It appears from what I have read that most Arabs believe women are 3rd class citizens with no rights to speak of, even limited to being well educated in most circles. It doesn't make sense to me. Nevertheless, the painting is quite nice and still interesting.

Does your childhood friend or the "other" Filipino resident artist have an Internet gallery to view their paintings?
Thanks,
JoeyA (Not an art collector, cue collector or collector of any kind)

It's not too graphic for me although some people consider me a prude. Although the latter painting isn't my cup of tea. The colors and scene seem to be too negative for me. Maybe I just need another cup of coffee. :)
