A New Pool Game I Invented Called Bunker 6

I created this game as a break from 8 ball, 9 Ball, and drills. It is pretty fun. I have created a youtube and document about Bunker 6. Give it a try.

Players:
Unlimited

Balls needed:
Cue ball and colored balls 1-6

Description:
This is a game that emphasizes using the rails and getting the cue call back to the center portion of the pool table after pocketing a ball. It is very similar to 6 Ball.

Terminology:
1. Box – the area (width) between the four diamonds at the center of the pool table.
2. Bunker – the area (width) of the pool table from the edges of one side pocket to the edges of the other side pocket. This area is located at the center of the box.

Racking (positioning the balls at the start of the game):
There is no racking device such as a rack.
There are 6 diamonds on the length of both sides of the pool table and three diamonds on the end and foot rails. There are 6 imaginary lines on the table (3 on both side of the area of the Box). Only one ball can be randomly placed on each of these lines and only where it intersects with the head and foot rail diamonds as seen in the graphic. No balls are to be placed against the rails.
To end any potential confusion about who will rack the ball, both players must place the balls prior to starting a game.

Objective:
After the rack is set, the incoming player has ball in hand (anywhere on the pool table) on the one ball. He or She must send the cue ball to the Box after pocketing the ball. Then balls must be pocketed in order just like in the game of 6 Ball.

Fouls:
1. Scratching
2. Not landing in the Box/ Bunker after legally pocketing a ball.
3. Contacting any ball other than the object ball. The only exception is if after legally pocketing the lowest ball on the table, if the cue ball contacts another ball causing the cue ball to land in the Box/Bunker, this ball is manually replaced back where it was and the shooter continues his or her run.
4. Not legally pocketing the lowest numbered ball on the table.
5. All other fouls from other pocket billiard games.

Landing in the Bunker:
This is highly advantageous for the shooter.
If a shooter’s cue ball lands in the Bunker after legally pocketing a ball, he or she does not have to land in the Box/Bunker upon shooting the very next ball and only for that ball. The shooter can shoot from any position where the ball may land. From the new location, they must land their cue ball back in the Box/Bunker.
Scoring:
To score, the shooter must legally pocket a ball and then they obtain the value of the last legally pocketed ball to reach the Box/Bunker. The values are not added together. For example, if a shooter legally pockets the one through five balls, then the score for that inning is five. The shooter does not have to pocket all six balls.

Racing with other players:
A match has occurred after each player has had an inning. The player with the highest score wins that match. It is possible to tie in a match. For example, after both players have had an inning they could both have the same score.

It's not for me but if you like it, more power to you.

At least it doesn't have a ram shot in it :)
 
Definitely does sound like a speed control drill, except two guys do it and compare scores after.
Maybe scoring would be more interesting if balls are worth their numerical value, like in rotation?
Otherwise if I'm reading it right... I shoot 4 balls and I won.
Actually it's a very short game either way so maybe... more balls?

I actually play this game in a race with friends. We all get a chance to run the six balls.
Adding more balls would make the game a lot more difficult because it would be hard to get back to the Box (too much to run into).

Let's say I was playing you. I get a we both set up the six balls then I run until I foul.
The last ball I make legally and get back into the Box is my score. Maybe I ran to the three, got back into the Box and then scratched on the four. My score for that inning is three.

We randomly set the balls up again and it is your turn. You make it to the four and back get your cue ball into the Box and miss the next shot. Your score is four.

If we both have coins under the rail you progress to the next diamond. Then we start over.

It is nice because it eliminates:
1. Who racks (you both do - three balls each player and one per line).
2. You have to touch a rail or draw very well.
3. There are no safeties.
4. There are no combinations.
5. There are many ways to handicap.
6. There is no racking with a rack.

The game is played with two players. We both get a turn at running the six ball and getting back to the Box or Bunker. Your score is the value of the last ball you legally pocketed and got back to the Box or Bunker. So if I you got 5 and I got 3, you get to "move your coin one diamond" ;) and round and round we go.

It appears to be a good game, a quite original idea if nothing else. Maybe I try it if I get a chance, for now I'm sticking to 8ball and occasionally 9ball. I'm working on a new 8ball playstyle and I'm still learning the stuff in 9ball (which I only started playing recently) so I've got my hands full right now. Back in the day I also had ideas about a couple of new games, something more skilled players could potentially enjoy playing: 15ball (9ball or 10ball rules - you choose, but played with all 15 balls) and point system 8ball (just as the name says, it's basically 8ball but you win by acquiring points using different types of shots). If you're interested I think you can find the rules of both games in my older posts. Sorry for going off topic, but I always supported both other people and myself in coming up with fresh ideas and concepts to improve pool.
