I think the question is: does there need to be a new game? What itch is it scratching? It's hard to come up with something completely new. Kill the King is completely new. The problem is that it's too much chess and not enough actual pool.
A lot of new games will say, "It's based on 9 ball, it is scored like 14.1 but", and then I always think, well we have 9 ball already. Just play 9 ball and add in your house rule if you want.
There's that Texas One Shot game that guy pushes here. It basically takes the biggest problem in 9 ball and makes it much, much worse.
If you have to buy another set of balls or a new set of balls, forget it. Unless there's some absolutely mind bendingly new angle on the game, it's probably not going to be worth the trouble, especially when you buy the new set of balls and realize the huge flaw in the game that nobody realized until you play it for a while.
OP has apparently figured out a way to fix the biggest flaw in pool, which is apparently so big that nobody can figure out what it is.
