A question about Predator TriState Tour

Hi guys,

I am coming from overseas to visit for a couple of weeks next year and would like to play in one of the TriState tour events as I feel it would be a nice experience against people of similar level. I am around Fargo 500 and would like to know if they will let me play in the event or is it meant for local players only?

Many thanks.

I thought that tour stopped a bit ago, it was run by Robles, but I have never heard of it being restricted to locals when it was going on.

Don't know anything about it have you tried contacting the tour's admin staff?

Tour is not dead. I was talking to Todd a couple of weeks back. I didn’t know of Leymans involvement until then. I believe there is a membership fee, not sure

Once Tony and his wife moved to Florida, they suggested that Predator became the sponsor of the Tri State Tour and they went with his suggestion.

As for the tour, it is still running, although they seem to be in a weird point in time where there are not many events as there used to be. Maybe they are just reshuffling things for 2023? No one knows. Regardless, yes they will let you play in any of their stops.

Now the interesting thing about them is that they are still, from what I know, using the ABCD system. The Mhet Vergera Pro-Am tour has been using the Fargo system for a while now and The Garden State Tour is moving full time to it aswell. These two are local tours in the area so you have options.

Didn't it always have Predator as the sponsor? Found an article from 2008 when it looks to have started https://www.azbilliards.com/robles-...ur,boost the sport of pool," said Tony Robles.

I thought when Tony stopped doing it the events also stopped.

Their rating always seemed a bit off to me, like many that use the ABCD system they rated players as too high for the ranking slot, they had C players that could run out balls very well which never made sense to me since a D is just about a beginner so no way can someone one rank higher be able to run out 5-6-7 balls each turn. They probably ranked players relative to others they ranked before, not by an independent skill/ability rating. That always will run into issues, if some guy is the best in the room for a year and you make him an A, even though he can't run out a rack, now Jim comes in who can run out a rack and you have to make him an A+, till Tim comes in that's even better and now you have an A++ till Tim Jr plays and beats Tim so you have an A+++, and it just goes goofy like that.
