A question about the table I'm getting.

Get the basic Aramith balls. They are the best, and have a lifetime warranty. If you want the better balls, you can get the super aramith pro balls. Of course whatever table you eventually get after this one, theballs can go with. I would just buy the basic aramith set though.

^^^What he said^^^> If you are planning on getting a good used slate table later on, go ahead and get the Super Aramith balls if you can spend a little extra cash, but I have the standard set on my home table and they are just fine as far as I'm concerned.

I think I'm gonna get me the Premium Belgian Aramith Pool Balls because the price is right for now and they got that little dot on the cue ball.

Yeah when I get a used, better quality slate table then I'm gonna get the Super Aramith balls. Thanks for the suggestions guys:)

Given the fact that the playing surface is not slate, I am not sure that it is worth spending the money for new balls instead of just keeping the ones that come with it. When I had a table like this, the balls that came with it seemed fine. I think I would wait to upgrade the balls until you upgrade the table. I remeber the rack and cues being very poor though. The plastic rack was not stable enough to give a tight rack. I would spend the money on a new rack and a decent low end cue like one from "players". You will get more out of these 2 purchases as far as playability than soending $75 on new balls for that table (not a knockon the table, just advice).

But....you will have a fairly new set of Super Aramith balls when you get the better table, which are probably gonna have some worn out balls come with it. Do what you feel is right here visualchaosfx. It's your $$$.

The surface is slatecore. So I'm guessing its a knock off version of real slate? Yeah I didn't like the plastic rack that came with it so I got me one of those wooden racks over at Dunhams. Works fine too. And I got me 2 new cues.

Where is a good place online to get used pool tables? Or should I really be looking for one locally?

Enjoy the table that you have for a while. Don't worry about what some of the snobs have to say. You got what you wanted to afford, and you stated your priorities clearly. You're not planning to be a pro, but want to have fun. You can have a heck of a lot of fun and learn a lot of the basics on this table, regardless if it's not a Brudswick or Diamond.
Once in a while, if you go to a pool hall to shoot for an hour or two, you can see the difference between what you have and what you may someday decide to purchase, but there's no rush. Heck, you may decide that you don't like the game that much after all. This may come as a shock to some on this forum, that there are other things in life other than billiards.
Lots of folks on this forum seem to forget that not everyone's either as serious a player or pureist as they are. And few if any are willing to cut a beginner any slack. (wonder why the sport doesn't grow?)
I read this forum daily, and amazed at just how fast the sharks start schooling over the slightest hint of new blood.
This forums a great place to come if you have questions, but it's not necessarily to take all answers to heart.
Regards and have a great time on the new table. It looks like you have more than enough room to play and looks nice in the room it's in.
