Probably because snooker players in general aren't smart enough to understand the benefits of gloves (see my posts in the referenced thread).

If they wore gloves, they might reach the level of play achieved in pool!
 
Ok, here is my 2 cents on gloves. First, why don't you see snooker players using them? My opinion is two parts. One, snooker players almost exclusively use an open bridge and I have found that a glove needs too much adjustment in an open bridge. It is better suited, IMO, to a closed bridge. Secondly, snooker is biggest in Europe where it isn't as hot and humid as some places so the need for a glove is minimal.

Just my opinion.

Why is it when people on this forum post a question and people give their opinions, to which we are all entitled, there are people like you who just jump on to be an ass. I really find the woofing on this site funny at times, but guys like you really make me wish I was nearby. Some people need to be taught a lesson of manners and respect in person.

Gee, you kind of have me confused, Mosconiac. You seem to be sarcastically implying that technology such as gloves don't improve the game of cueists. In fact, you seem to find it laughable that people obsess over little things like the amount of friction between the cue shaft and the bridge.

Firstly, no a glove will not improve a players game...unless that player likes it. A glove is equipment. Not everyone likes them. So playing with or without is as individual as the cue you play. Secondly, why would a snooker player use an OB1 when you can get a Paris?

Let me star off by saying CP is a stupid Monkey.. (monkey seems to be the insult of the week around here)... but he was right about the Europe comment...

I own a glove and use here and there.. only during the summer as there is almost NO AC in this country... ANYWHERE... most halls are closed in no windows, maybe a fan here and there... when it gets hot the glove comes out.. I mean sweat dripping down your nose hot...the glove is needed at that point...

You made two assumptions while composing your mediocre response.

First, as you eloquently stated, everyone is entitled to an opinion. My opinion, which is my contribution to this forum, is 'I'll spot anyone who wears a glove the 2 wild.'

Second, you assume that you being nearby would make a difference. Unfortunately, I would man-handle you and eventually discard you like a soiled contraceptive.

Now please be gone, before I glove slap you.
 
If my comment about Europe is wrong I apologize. Some of my friends have played there, not me, and they said it was much less humid than here. We normally have over 90% humidity. On a hot day if it is 30 C add in the humity it is like 38 C. You get the point. Even with AC sometimes it isn't enough.

There have been many times I nearly bought a glove just so I could play without cleaning my hands and cue every two shots.

Again, I apologize if my comment was ill placed.

By the way cplayer, I am really looking forward to seeing the results you get on this forum with an attitude like that. I have found that there are tons of players here that are great fun to chat with via PM and get some great advice from. You, on the other hand, will have pretty much closed those doors by acting like a child. By the way, I am no pro, but I have never been "man-handled" by anyone and I play on a few circuits up here. You must be very talented. Congrats.

This is a good point. When I have an especially lazy student, I recommend gloves to them for this very reason! This philosophy can be applied to the rest of your life as well. Just carry a pack of latex gloves in your pocket and you won't have to worry about washing your hands after potty-time either.

Better yet, just become a stake horse so you can "play pool" without having to muster the energy to raise your sedentary flanks from your chair.

no bigge on the Europe quote.... it is cooler..for the most part over here.. but the lack of AC more than makes up for it
